I have to agree. I built a custom email solution for a small business similar to the one presented in the article, with a bespoke newsletter creation/mailing list management/engagement reporting platform on top of it. It handles f

Indeed, the "it's not for you" argument is tiresome precisely because the people who seem most disappointed about Mac Pro pricing are the people who actually need a powerful, expandable Mac. My mom doesn't care what it c

Anecdotal, but: The article notes that AT&T has implemented RPKI, and a client mentioned to me that he wasn't having problems accessing Cloudflare-hosted infrastructure via his AT&T phone. The rest of his employees were having

Unbelievable. Thanks for the excellent write-up.

I find both viewpoints laughable: That Google thinks it has any shade to throw at Apple over privacy, and that Apple doesn't think it has become a purveyor of luxury goods.

A few things: The memory and SSD can't be replaced by the user, meaning pro users are looking at potentially significant downtime if these items fail. The machine isn't serviceable at all without removing a screen attached by adhe

Apple doesn't sell a single computer today that isn't crippled by serious hardware limitations and pointless compromises. I've been a Mac user since the late 1980s, but Apple no longer makes anything I actually want to buy.

Indeed. I always aim to get no refund or to owe. There is no good reason to give the government an interest-free loan with your own money.

You and the parent both "get it." I just hope that Apple gets it before it is too late.

I recommend holding off. I actually sold my 2017 and went back to a 2015.

> Apple's design lab used to be amazing at balancing usability vs design Agreed. There was a thoughtful pragmatism to Jobs-era Apple products. That pragmatism is gone.

I beg to differ. Unreliable keyboards and security chips that frequently crash the computer are feature regressions.

I found the Touch Bar so objectionable that I sold a 6 month-old 2017 MacBook Pro at a considerable loss to be rid of it. After nearly 30 years as a user, I’m done with Apple products until they stop with the user-hostile gimmicks.

It's entirely possible that the only reason I'm a programmer today is because of Myst. For reasons that I either never fully learned or fail to remember, my father received a CD in the mail from Myst's publisher (Broderbund?)
