The manual included with Microsoft Flight Simulator (4.0 maybe?) in the early 90’s was thick and dense. I remember using it to learn how to navigate using VOR stations. They don’t make them like they used to.

A common technique is that somewhere in the email you'll see something like: <img src=" https://example.com/cd726f02-d2f4-4c0e-a717-e69044180c59.gif " height="1" width="1"> The image f

I see your point. If you're the kind of user who keeps automatic image download disabled, and rarely downloads them manually, keeping Mail Privacy Protection disabled might actually be more private. Fortunately, it isn't automatic

Leaked to who, though? If you use this feature, then sure, Apple will know that you're using an Apple device. But the purpose of the proxy is to shield the end-user's IP address, and probably their user agent, too. Some email prov

Not necessarily. Tracking pixels are implemented using images (usually transparent ones), so all Apple Mail needs to do is send the image URLs to the proxies, not the entire contents of the email. What they're actually doing remain

You're not wrong. Not loading images will block tracking pixels completely. Apple is just adding a way to send less PII while still loading images.

Unless I'm misunderstanding how this new feature is implemented, tracking pixels will still work, but the data that can be gleaned from them will be more generic (the IP address will belong to a proxy). Senders that are using these pix

That is not what the article says. It says Internet Archive had already started ignoring robots.txt on US government websites. Now (since 2017) they ignore it on all websites.

Archive.org does not respect robots.txt IIRC. I’ve run into this problem before with them. Ironically, I ended up blocking Internet Archive’s ASN using Cloudflare. EDIT: Internet Archive started ignoring robots.txt in 2017: https:/&#x

I own a minivan, too, as it's the only vehicle that the entire family will fit inside. Like the pickup truck, our minivan is an extremely versatile vehicle, but there's just no way I'm going to put loose gravel, wet bags of m

I always preferred sporty sedans. But then I became a (relatively handy) homeowner and a father. After I got my pickup truck with a crew cab, I couldn't imagine not owning one, even though (as the title says) it barely fits in my garag

This sort of tackiness in Windows 10 is one of the primary reasons I've switched back to macOS. Windows 10 is a great OS in many respects, and I like the hardware story more than in Apple world, but I just can't get over Microsoft

If I was building new, I'd go AMD, too. As things stand, I already have a 8-core X299 system, and the fact that I can drop an 18-core CPU into it after a BIOS update is compelling. But it seems unlikely that there is a large enough aud
