Oh, I didn't take it as a pointed criticism or anything. It just seemed like it would be an instructive example. The underlying point I often make to people is that Python's slowness introduces a lot of incidental complexity, and

Everyone needs commands like "pip install 'spacy==2.3.5'" to work reliably in the future, so that you can go back and bisect errors. You need to be able to get back to a particular known-good state, and work through chan

I think you're really under-rating how important it is to be able to do something like "pip install 'requests==1.0.5'" or whatever, in order to reconstruct the past state of a project. If requests hasn't pinned

This will be a somewhat intemperate response, because as a developer of a significant library I found this quite irritating. If you publish a Python library without pinned dependencies, your code is broken. It happens to work today, but the

I gave some thoughts earlier in the thread about how we see spaCy fitting in to the NLP ecosystem. Here’s another answer that’s maybe more direct, through an example. Let’s say you wanted to build a system where you used an efficient bag-of

I'm sorry that this conflicted with your plans, but I feel strongly that distributing Python libraries via system package managers such as apt is very bad for users. The pain is felt especially by users who are relatively new to Python

Yes you can easily train with xlnet instead of roberta-base --- just write the different model name in the config file (or pass a different string value, if doing it from Python). You can find an example config file here: https://

The improved transformers support is definitely one of the main features of the release. I'm also really pleased with how the project system and config files work. If you're always working with exactly one task model, I think work

I think spaCy offers a lot of things to connect the models to the rest of your application. spaCy's Doc object is pretty helpful for using the outputs, for instance you can iterate over the sentences and then iterate over the entities
