1. it's quite likely that the Unsafe classes will be accessible with a flag, so for this kind of projects it's not really a big problem, as they provide the shell scripts for launching the jvm with all the necessary parameters.

Does not seem fair to me with the: " whether or not such claim is related to the Software". It's really a more asymmetrical retaliation clause than the one from the Apache 2.0 (or GPLv3), which are only about the related work

This one is quite surprising. I would have guessed that given the pervasive use of opengl(es) in their os, they would have advanced a azdo approach ( as described in http://www.slideshare.net/CassEveritt/approaching-zer

clojure can use all the jvm ecosystem as a fallback (if the native solutions are not up to the task).

not hard at all obviously. Anyway, given the current legal situation in Switzerland, uploading data with bittorrent while downloading some music/film is basically a no risk activity.

In Switzerland, you can legally download but not upload, so bittorrent should not be considered safe. The interesting loophole for the bittorrent users is the fact that a private company cannot arvest the ip ( http://arstechnica.

I'm using the free tier of openshift from red hat. The performance is good enough that I'm able to cram a java application powered by jetty + mysql + phpmyadmin in a single small "gear" (they give you 3 small gears free,

From what I know, JSF is used mostly for small to medium intranet application in the context of big enterprises. I'm quite biased here, but the big seal of approval as the official java enterprise web framework makes it often imposed b

What are the problems of spring license? It's a clear apache 2.0 license which is quite used in the java world. (edit: ok, noticed that the wikipedia page was wrong, I've corrected it) Additionally, even though I'm not a fan

Actually, the GWT governance has been handed over to the community ( http://googlewebtoolkit.blogspot.ch/2013/07/gwt-news.html ). It's quite obvious that they have less love for gwt than before, but I don

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=319901 is an interesting thread. And https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1021898 . My take is that RH is more afraid from patent trolling than some kind o

Thank you for the information on the current situation. Well, not to be an opportunist, but let's hope that this kind of incidents will move the adoption of TACK a little bit faster.

TACK has the advantage to work in the current infrastructure (with some patches): it's a point that should not be ignored if you want wide acceptance.

TACK is really cool, but is it still pushed to the vendors? (Or even, are the vendors interested?). I've seen patches floating on github, but alas, not that much activity lately.

They still need to steal the properties so we can remove the getter/setter and the local type inference from c#. I must admit that except for this two missing features, I'm quite happy with the java 8 release in term of features.
