I've seen this pattern from quite a few authors before. They describe Jobs as a jerk, and then go on to explain how his jerktitude actually helped them later on, like he was teaching them a life lesson or something. He was just very go

I'd like to see some sort of a breakdown of how Apple uses the 30% to improve the app store. Even if they were spending 15% of that cut on improving iTunes Connect etc. it would've shown.

Totally agree with you! I prefer "homework" too. It's a bit crazy trying to solve an Interaction design problem on the spot, while people sit there and watch. On the job, designers never do this unless they're working in

I know three people from a previous job that was stressful, boring and mechanical. They are all from great schools, in good health and well paid. They smoke regularly and I’ve known them for at least 4-7 years now. Initially, they treated i

Open office plans suit small groups of people, maybe 5-6. Even then, I prefer the open office plans where everybody is facing a wall or partition of some sort. Being able to see the person on the other side of the table is terribly distract

The funny thing is when I'm on vacation, I find it much easier to strike up a conversation with strangers! Also, now that I think about it, when I'm walking around NYC with a camera around my neck (i like street photography), peop

In NYC, where I live, I would never strike up a conversation with a random stranger. The first thought that crosses my mind is, "oh they're probably on their way to work", or "they seem busy on their phone", etc. Ou

Smartphones should've been banned from schools 5-6 years ago. It's too late now. These days kids start tapping smartphone/tablet screens at a really young age. Taking away there smart devices now is like sending them to schoo

I thought this was going to be click bait, but it's actually a very well written article. Are there any other examples of visionary CEOs passing on the torch to execution CEOs? Would be interesting to see if something like this lead to

But that's not the same as a walmart employee finishing work, and then driving stuff to people's homes. Am I missing something?

Chasing fame on instagram is not going to get you freelance work, so focus on having a decent portfolio website instead. Take pictures everyday, and post some on Unsplash. See which photos people end up using. If it's interiors or land

I'm a designer 70% of the time, but I also do a lot of front-end, and iOS development work. Don't know how to show a combination of design and dev-only projects without confusing clients. Anybody have links to example portfolios t

This happened to my dad. He bought a nice piano and started taking lessons for it. He got really into it and decided to buy a nice piano chair. He ordered one on amazon for around $300. It looked great in the pictures. But 3 weeks after ord

At 25 I was setting unrealistic goals for myself and then struggling to live up to them. 8 years on, I've realized it's wiser to set long-term goals and sticking to them. Saving money, losing weight, learning new skills ... it all
