AGI and human intelligence don't necessarily have to work the same way. While many of us assume that they must be very similar, I don't think there's any basis for that assumption.

That trial was specifically for familial types of hypercholesterolemia, which are strongly genetic. Not clear that it would also work for run-of-the-mill high cholesterol, although it is possible.

Not the OP, but surprisingly it didn’t take long. I just worked through the helix-tutor and was good to go in a few hours. Helix isn’t simply an alternative set of keybindings—it’s a different way of thinking about selections and actions. O

I just moved back to Cleveland, and I signed up for Cleveland Broadband (clevelandbroadband.com), which is incredible! I pay $50/mo for 1 Gb/s download and upload speeds with no contract or temporary introductory pricing. The best

Kagi doesn't need to win, and they know that. Kagi just has to focus on serving a tiny percentage of Google power users in order to be profitable and induce Google search to compete.

Yes, you can certainly do that, but I wonder how long the appeal and approval process took? I'd bet it's measured in months.

It doesn't sound like that poster operates as a journal, and that makes sense. Academic researchers need to publish papers in long-standing and highly respected journals in order to be promoted and eventually gain tenure. Journals do n

I also work in biological sciences research, but I'm more skeptical of peer review than you appear to be. My main criticism is that peer review is an n=2 process. Why not publish an unreviewed pre-print in bioRxiv and explicitly solici

I don't think authors need to credit AI in their written works, but I do think this is the double-edged sword of claiming partly AI-generated content as your own (for reference, the WGA recently won the right to claim AI-inspired and p

Definitely not something that should be endorsed as the hacker mindset. This is a scam and an overall detriment to society even if legal.

Sure, but eye candy/exclusivity were certainly not the dominant reasons the iPhone succeeded. The early iPhones were $299 with 2-year contracts—definitely not prohibitively expensive for a huge number of people. Eye candy…sure the iPho

Completely disagree. You're just listing features and assuming they're all equivalent (e.g., 7 features is better than 5 features). What the iPhone got right was that it was actually intuitive for a regular person to use—it didn&#

Having listened to podcasters discussing these ad brokers, it sounds like this is actually somewhat common. Some ad brokers take months to payout or never payout at all (usually the broker has gone out of business).

It's not about fixing poor sleep. Chronic sleep apnea causes other downstream effects like pulmonary hypertension and right-sided heart failure, which are the main things we're trying to avoid by using CPAP machines.

I’m a doctor and have used Epic and other EMRs extensively. The most accurate thing I can say is that Epic is the least horrible EMR available. It’s probably a 3/10 overall while everything else is much worse.
