Yes, this is old news. It's designed to increase the effectiveness of a ban by increasing the time until the banned poster finds out he is banned and attempts to circumvent it.

There are companies that audit bartenders by very carefully inventorying the liquor. I found out from this article in my college's newspaper: http://www.michigandaily.com/content/2008-09-24/bar-audits-m... . The company is Bevinco (www.be

I was under the impression that it could help in getting people to take you seriously, although this might apply more to consulting than startups.

I just got back from two weeks off of my PhD studies due to burnout, and did some serious thinking about quitting in favor of entering the small business and/or startup world because I still felt burned out. I realized that we've got some p

Just buy seeds on the Internet? Also, I've heard conflicting reports about growing mint indoors over the winter; some sources say that mint needs to die down in the winter and won't survive year-round growing, but others don't mention it. S

Facebook did, or at least turned its side, when it opened the site to everyone instead of just college students.

Is it too late in the year to start mint? I have a very similar situation to the OP; live in an apartment in SE Michigan with a window/balcony, but near trees. I'm assuming it'll have to come inside around mid-October.

It seems to make the gap between lines enormous in Emacs. Is it just a configuration issue? (compared to Deja Vu Sans Mono) I can't accept a font change that means I can fit less code on my screen and have to read smaller text to boot.

The noise category assumption is a fair one. "Work harder" is a vague recommendation. Are there more specific recommendations you could make? Don't post just because you can. Don't echo comments others have made. Don't post "oblig

So assume it's that your comment fell into the "noise" category and work harder on producing "signal" next time. We don't need to have a discussion every time someone felt that some post did not contribute sufficiently to the discussion.

It seems to me that you can't be sure unless someone is auditing the weights or measures actually in use. Consumers can do a rough audit using their gas gauges, but it's not particularly precise.

I used to be under the impression that one was obliged to take a low salary while employed by or founding an early-stage startup. Your seemingly sincere comment and an anecdote from a friend who was offered a quite competitive salary are

Doesn't it make it difficult to sell homes in high cost-of-living areas? Seems like you'd be taking a hit in the sale price to reflect the increased property tax burden on the new owner. I don't know whether you come out ahead, but it's pro
