When guns were flint locks, the amount of damage one person could do was pretty limited. When machine guns became generally available (and i'm aware $200 is not "generally available" in 1920). That changed. These weapons w

This really is the way to do it in my opinion. Collaboration is one of the hardest parts to do remote (though I think VR could make this better)

Not even that is good enough, a ban on an account should have a VERY high bar, and that bar needs to be highly regulated. Right now it's just games, maybe movies, but it could apply to all kinds of software and apps... and this stuff

The idea that I could have an account with hundreds of games I purchased be taken away from me without reason, or without recourse is absurd. Facebook, or really anything holding licensed content needs to be regulated.

With Arch, I feel in control. It has an "I built it, I can fix it" vibe. The result is it has been far more stable for me. I've struggled in the past with Ubuntu releases. I put them off, and then eventually I'm forc

My desktop computer has 64GB of memory, 1TB NVMe (SUPER fast sequential read) storage, and my Ryzen has 12 cores. Yet most of this sits unutilized, even while doing heavy workloads. There's a lot of extra performance just sitting out

I do, all the time. I highly recommend others do it too. I like to keep to 1 commit per ticket (even a super large ticket that might take me weeks of development). But having a commit history like the fella in this story is nice too. So

Was it NVMe though? The standard is only 9 years old, so that's an impressive lifespan for one of the first drives.

Social media accounts can be worth real money in the right conditions. It might be time to start having some real regulations around these things. If my bank account was hijacked, the bank wouldn't be able to just ignore my pleas. I

I wonder if maybe one of the differences is this has always seemed "temporary"... Or at least that is how it has been portrayed. We're just in that period before we have a vaccine, and everything goes back to normal. When yo

I'm generally against the 20th century solution of breaking companies up when it comes to tech companies... but Amazon's problems are not Facebooks or Google's. It's way simpler, and it fits the mold perfectly. First o

I question how much of "modern" graphics (IE things you can get a PHD for) is a manifestation of the engine, and how much is a result of the underlying libraries being used, and the fancy shaders being written. I don't think

What I love about this engine, is that I can really easily read the code and reason what it does. I'd guess that given an hour or so of study I would feel reasonably confident in trying to modify it.

It's funny, I don't even remember why I moved to Namecheap, but I remember years ago getting angry at Godaddy, and then transferring everything. You guys have a great service. No regrets since the move.

It would seem like the pricing is misleading, and that in reality when these finally do come back in stock they will not be at the advertised $699 price point. The FE's are simply loss leaders. https://www.mooreslawisdead.c

It's really great to see VR coming down in price and becoming more accessible... but it's coming at the cost of quality, and it's bringing the rest of VR down with it. As an example, Onward VR recently added support for Que

While reading about OpenGL programming, one of the first things nearly all books mention, is the cost of moving data from your system to the GPU's memory.... So I assumed that's still true, is it not? Adding more GPU's does

I've been hoping someone would create an open source version of the lighthouse technology. I think that technology could be huge outside of VR. Inside VR, I just want more custom hardware... I want VR feet.
