It's shocking that people write that kind of misinformation and it is upvoted so highly at the same time. The threshold to be forcibly put into a closed psychiatry ward is enormously high.

There is no flagging. Who should flag you, and where? I know quite some people that were in these situations, no one experienced any such consequences.

Sorry, but the last bit is complete and utter bollocks. Never, ever don't mention this. Please delete this dangerous misinformation that might keep people from looking for help in times of need.

Given OP's user name, I suppose he is in Germany right now. If you want to find a therapist, there's several ways: 1. Talk to your health insurance; they often have scheduling services 2. Talk to the Kassenärztlicher Bereitschafts

If the top 1% would reduce their lifestyle to that of the next 10%, a lot would be gained right away. Private jets are evil.

Even with such a breakthrough, cost-effective fusion would still probably be 50 years away. Why would you assume it to be super cheap right out the house?

This is now; often wind+solar is closer to 100%. Snapshots don't make sense. One of the reasons why Germany currently has to burn that much coal and gas, btw, is that France needs it due to the number of reactors in maintenance mode.

The uninformed bullshit by the person you replied to is the reason I typically don‘t comment on German topics anymore on HN. Alas, my Gell-Mann-Amnesia is strong and I read comments on other topics even though they are probably as little ba

Adding to that, these rifles or machine pistols weren't used to protect against hooligans, but against the risk of islamic terorism. Hooligans can be bad, but they are not gunshot-bad. Riot gear typically suffices. And most hooligan ac

Common sense. Just a single earth and all. Your example is concerned with a single forecast. If we started asteroid mining, we would obviously increase earth's resources. Otherwise, resources on earth are limited.

The quality of life has dropped since the 50s? Definitely not im Germany or Europe in general. On what metrics has it dropped?

It's dropping since the 1950s, so not a fluke. Major reasons are probably improvements in living conditions (yes, in comparison to the 50s), the invention and widespread use of contraception and social security (which removes the need

Degrowth isn't just about climate change. The problem with the overconsumption of earth's resources still persist. Unless we have a fully cyclical economy, I don't see how we can really decouple growth and the depletion of ea

Live in Germany, driving for 25 years. Never was in an accident. Same as my father, who has been driving for more than 45 years. Anecdotes, I know, but I definitely know less people that were in accidents than those that were not.
