Wow. > That means that tests have to be at least as computationally complex as code. My BS sense is tingling. No matter how complex the code, in the end it comes down to comparing the output of a function (or state after execution) aga

Let me just say thank you for picking that particular example. Now please excuse me. I just discovered a new hammer and I'm sure as hell gonna hit something with it.

My initial reaction to this was “Why would anyone have such strong feelings against any particular programming language?” Then I remembered how I feel about Java. (I’m obviously joking here. I’m not 15 anymore. If you pay me to build your h

I don't understand what the author is trying to say with "wiring it in backwards" in the last paragraph. Well, of course you power it with the batteries right next to it; otherwise, what would be the point? From what I can ga

I'm not 100% sure what you're saying here, but in the post you linked, Linus seems to be referring to a hypothetical solution where you're not signing the SHA of a commit but some subset. When you use Git to sign a commit o

The quote sounds right to me. If the act of impersonating someone is indeed a criminal offense, you can not smooth that over with a contract. Voting by proxy is not impersonation, you give someone the right to act (vote in this case) in y

I think it might come close, though. I mean, yes, there might be some percentage of Linux users that get all their answers from good old mailing lists, but surely the bias should not be that big?

One that did catch my eye was 1qaz2wsx Take a look at your keyboard to see that one. While it has potential, it could be a little longer. It is still the strongest one from the list though. How so? It could be a 100-character string of

I for one prefer well executed email confirmations above overzealous validation, making me type my email twice, etc. As long as I don't have to wait for the mail to arrive, it's fine with me. Regarding their sales strategy, I'
