This is an aside but your description of "a briefcase filled with unmarked bitcoin" is hilarious. More topically, this was automated so it's not like a few bad actors who manually delete comments were to blame.

Thankfully these are usually harmless (to us humans, anyway)and slightly funny. There are unfortunate ones like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_hedgehog#Controversy_sur... out there though.

Seriously, how is this not comprehensible to people? If you or your family members are going outside, you HAVE NOT been in isolation. You've been interacting with people outside and bringing in germs from your visits.

You just answered yourself. It's not a the only way to run your own code on your own phone. AFAIK that restriction is to prevent jailbreakers from easily sideloading paid apps as "their" apps on their phones.

Is it that surprising? We have the exact same system in the States. Affirmative Action exists today. The Ivies modified its acceptance criteria to "soft" discriminate against Jewish Americans in the 50s and 60s. There are argument

Call me a cynic, but I'll just let Doordash take the overhead fees if it means I can avoid a call to the police and an escrow service for a $15 burrito. Best of luck on your OSS endevor.

I unfortunately came to this realization as I was graduating college. A decent number of my less-than-stellar high school acquaintances were going to be attending medical school.

The article addresses this. They expect fewer trauma patients as there are fewer people on the road, etc. but they expect the number of stroke, heart attack, etc. patients to remain constant, which hasn't been the case.

Airbnb is a successful company but why are you comparing it to a company that is literally printing money? Have you worked at a big company before?

Nothing wrong with that, plenty of people do. Just don't go around proclaiming privacy concerns and whatnot when that goes out the window as soon as you get your Youtube fix.

How many MSFT keys, FB accounts, etc. do you think are being traded on tor right now? This isn't even news except for the fact that the media has their sight on Zoom right now.

TL;DR create a complex agile-esque process for doing chores with timestamps instead of just setting a calendar reminder or doing it ad-hoc.

Unless both partners are thrilled with the idea of logging their chore completion timestamps on a spreadsheet (or weigh this against the cost of resentment one will feel of the other person, as the author suggests), I think it's going

Stop saying "atomic" for Christ's sake. Unless the company is literally going under companies usually take the time to have a 1:1 chat with the person being laid off.

Stop saying "single, atomic operation" like the humans being laid off are some database transaction, for God's sake. These people being laid off spent a portion of their lives working for the company. They might have some per

Seriously. Still now you hear about grad students forced to redo years of research all over again because their lab lost power for a few hours and whatnot. Could the underpaid grad student have lobbied for a backup power generator? Perhaps,

Yelp's case is also more situational than the rest. They entirely depend on people shopping/eating out to search and make posts. That's clearly not happening right now and I'm sure SMBs are scrambling to cancel any ad pu
