why would all the memory of chrome be in RAM and other programs not? I suppose there must be lots of swapped data there too. Doesn't crome have a separate sub? process for each tab with not much shared between tabs? In looking for ways to f

Well isn't it almost the only windows phone out there that doesn't feel experimental and a quick hack job? I have a lumia and like it a lot better than android, but the screen feels incredibly lo-rez compared to my iphone 4 so surfing the

I really love SimpleGeos logos, but I have never grokked what problem they really solve for the user, but I totally get what urban airship solves. I've done a couple of app project with geo data but I don't see any benefit of having that pa

Good article but I disagree that supporting "Android (not Google) even though you like IOS" is a valid strategy for openness. android is all about monitoring and datamining the user. Sad to see the good old openmoko project die.

Thanks! Yeah, both are growing, but android are growing faster, figures. Article tries to suggest that iOS is shrinking.

Did the total market grow? Article doesn't say anything about that, title slightly misleading as it is about new phone sold, not the total of users. I'd expect android to sell more, but apple to continue to hold the high end.

Hacker News - home of the Android Zealots, can't say something even slightly bad about android without being voted down. To me that phone looks very similar to an iphone 4. The apple iphone 4 has the outer rim as the antenna, looks like a s

It's my last line of defense when someone brings out the quotes and asks me to define good and evil. It doesn't take that much imagination to at least understand the idea that some people consider some huge corporations evil.

Google's doing it as well. This is an example of an old paper mill (with great water cooling possibilities) that was converted to a data center. http://www.google.com/about/datacenters/locations/hamina/

Looks good. I'm a big fan of narray to get decent performance for array operations, interesting to see how the rewrite of that will perform. Narray is pretty damn close to realtime compared to native ruby implementations.

Brute force hack is always the right way to start out, and I love the ruby community/the ruby approach for this. Get something that works, and then optimize the internals if project takes off. For a solution to the rubygems index download t
