Yeah I'm so glad I paid top dollar for the 8GB version of the OG X1 Carbon back in 2012 - and got the i7 with the biggest NVME, a 256gb. I also have a newer Nano for work, but prefer the keyboard of the old. If I had picked the 4GB mod

Unlike Maverick, where the scenes of the authentic jacket were ultimately worth sacrificing the entire Chinese market. That was a proper Taiwan patch though, rather than these vague dots. Respect.

Yes. Political campaign contributions is the perfect euphemism for corruption . Corporations aren't allowed to make direct campaign contributions in Norway; political campaigns are paid for by the public. (I've been an expat for

Yep, just look at Australia - bending over backwards for the foreign mining companies, quivering in fear at the prospect of taxing them even a fraction of Norway's 78%. Spine vs spineless.

Yeah in Australia anything under a 5 out 5 may seem like grounds for a defamation lawsuit. It's a complete farce.

Thanks; good response. Yes you got to push alternatives. But at the same time, at least 90% of the cars - and near 100% of buses - that are still going to be sold (no matter how one might wish for new cars not to be needed) should be _elect

Yeah, I see I'm being severely downvoted to the point of (dead) for speaking to the benefit of EVs in a thread about air pollution..? As a somewhat serious cyclist (I have 4 bikes - two for the road, two for MTB), I know which kind of

Yep, very much so. I intended it as such! (Expanded version: "Nor will there be much demand for people servicing the electric motors in after sales"). My first service after getting an EV was for tyre rotation, an air cabin filter

Quite a few cars these days are electric, some of which may even be charged to a high degree by PV. And people who drive generally have a legitimate need for one. "Make your next car an EV" would be a better statement.

The effort required to pedal a 25kmh limited 250w e-bike at 35kmh (or even 30) compared to a carbon road bike at the same speed is ridiculous. I really wish they allowed for a very token level of assist to help counter the extra weight of t

Yeah applying a very loose, or perhaps pedantic, definition of vehicle (it doesn't specify size, for example) combined with a reasonable understanding of "in" ie including air space in proportion to the size of a regular park

Thanks for those tips, great to know! I hadn't thought of maybe upgrading the pre-amp only (one with a room processor built in, for simplicity?), that's actually something that would make sense especially for connectivity also. I

Amen. Not exactly a minimalist thing this, but more about sourcing quality to "buy once": Rotel multi channel sound system (amp and pre amp) from 1997 here, still going strong with one repair five-ten years in, along with Infinity

I think there's a reason why a new sensor suite is rumoured to be imminent. Much better cameras + radar? Key word being "Project Highland". It won't be a retrofit for older cars, which tells me current owners won't

I'd rather pay a single fee once than be subjected to the barrage of ads that normally occur instead. I just can't stand in app ads, to the point that if I can't pay for them to go away I have to remove the app.

Any car regardless of propulsion will have its range slashed pushing that much air, so I don't quite see the point of the question? Battery pack is a very large one, at least by Model 3 standards. Details are in the article.
