And, since Webkit is a development branch, it’s extremely unfair for it to be used as a “target” in this sense. It’s going to have tons of security fixes, because it’s bleeding edge code.

What's your experience with the Kindle's screen? I'm pretty much sold on it, but have a lot of image-based PDFs that wouldn't convert to the native format.

If I hadn't gone to college, I would have ended up in a dead-end janitorial or factory job, stuck in a small town and never have been exposed to fine arts and web development.

A salad before a meal, particularity 20-30 minutes beforehand, will start the enzyme processes that eventually render satiety. However, most American salads are loaded with decidedly non-healthy items, so a 200-300 drop in meal calories wou

If it was in their corporate DNA to name something like the App Store the "Software Store," they would have died out in the 90's making a Windows clone.

Anything accessible without a screwdriver is generally considered user-upgradeable. A bit of a design faux pas, especially considering the precedent set by Apple in their recent consumer hardware.

Does this apply to us? I would hate to think that HN people would burn themselves out in an office for anything other than a passion for their work, not a drive to make more money or "succeed" in the conventional nomenclature of the America

As much talk (some justified) about Apple turning into a totalitarian Evil Empire, people forget that Adobe's mindset is from the print world, where it's commonplace for a single, proprietary company to control a functionally-optionless sta

I was under the assumption that view classes on android were harder to work with compared to a UIView, which can be subclasses and re-worked with new behavior. Or, at least that's the reason my friend gave for not developing an interface be

That sounds like an inverse lamentation. I'm pretty sure I remember a couple of dev's in the cocoa blog world complaining about the amount of unsolicited consulting requests they got after launching a couple of somewhat popular apps.

It's possible with the iPad. I'm thinking it's partially the right form-factor. I initially dismissed the iPad as junk, but after picking one up I was a little more convinced that it had a lot of value. And heh, looks like Microsoft took a

That's a good plan. I doubt Microsoft would ever implement it. And most of what you wrote is what Apple did with iOS, it's actually just Mac OS X with the GUI torn off completely. Really, a touch API for .NET would go a long way for promoti

More like cognitive dissonance. Windows is built for a mouse, same with Mac. If it coulda worked, Steve would have done an OEM and slapped Axiotron with a lawsuit.

There was a story on the front page two days ago about how insecure the iPad is, and how it's threatening corporate IT with uptake. A colleague's husband's department (same corp, different company for him) actually has a fleet of ~30 iPads.

The worst part is that George Carlin's rants from the '90s can be taken, copy-pasted verbatim and still not lose poignancy. " Airport security is a stupid idea, it's a waste of money, and it's there for only one reason: to make white people
