It really is a strange market niche to aim for... People who don't want to use a smartphone but want to own a smartphone... Is it even there at all? I know people who don't like phones and they buy the minimum phone necessary to suit the ne

It seems to me that the main hooks of Allegro and Lispworks are things like modern UI bindings, really solid database integration, modelling tools and stand alone applications... but these are the features excluded from the trials.

I always open links in background tabs and since the first four letters of the tab were "NSFW" I'm inclined to close it immediately. So, at least for the folks who don't subscribe to every hip, new, social media blog, these comments are use

My last few experiences with technical support staff have been pretty positive. In some instances, I've had to install broadband for extended family members who have misplaced the connection details. Other times it's getting support for an

I think you're worrying too much about flooding your followers' timelines with spam. However, this is actually the point of twitter and I think it handles it pretty well. Your followers probably follow you because your tweets are interestin

This is a good summary, and I agree that NeXT contributed a lot to what Apple is today. I don't understand your final sentence though... To whom are you referring when you say "They switched from being a H/w S/w company to a S/w company" ?

For what it's worth, I heard that at least part of the book covers a bit of html5 for browser games with a lisp back end. The sample chapter that is linked elsewhere uses a graph drawing library that produces png representations of the game

Since Windows 95, I've always looked at is as a flag. Even the Windows Logo screensaver had it waving like a flag. I can honestly say, I've never looked at the logo and thought "Hey! That's a window." But that's just me. I did a google imag

This is a common complaint. I wonder where people are leaving their unused plugs that they constantly tread on them? Probably not in a storage box/drawer.

This is also possible in common lisp, however, there seems to be a lot more use of looping in CL than other dialects... Perhaps for performance reasons. Suppose, for example* , that `range' conses up a list of START to END numbers, then sum

Good points. There does seem to be a trend for articles to have a theme of: "X is bad, embrace it." (Although, a lot of the time this is simply intended as irony, it can still be misinterpreted by a reader.) In my humble opinion, the positi

That's funny. You complain about internet humour being nothing more than remixes of old jokes, pop culture references and done-to-death memes. Yet, you employed a similar technique by basing your title on that of an existing text... for hum

Does anyone here know if the Jurassic Park infrastructure was ever documented anywhere, based on the nuggets of information in the books and films? I realise that wouldn't have much real world value, but it would be fun to read through.
