I’ve been thinking about my kid’s first computer and something in this ballpark is interesting. More hackable than iPad, not quite the complexity of a laptop. Not sure this one is quite right’ especially compared to the Pi400, but nice to h

Think of those as proof of concept. Imaginative types will come up with all sorts of interesting use cases. It is a pixel display on fabric, do whatever you want with it... pulse it to music, send notifications, just animate living textures

Even with all of these, the cost of implementing the standard (time for engineering, design, etc.) will likely very quickly dwarf what you are paying for the standard itself. I agree that open would be better, but the fees themselves really

While not disputing the core point about escalating violence against Asian Americans, this article seems to view any crime or violence as racially motivated. There is a robbery in there, for example, which suggest an alternate motivation. W

What I loved about this article was the feeling of being dropped into a completely foreign world. The visual and acting style of the soap is so weird. The presence of Sanders is so unexpected. Not being familiar with Malbolge, it was all es

This take strikes my as a bit absurd. You have to take a pretty all-encompassing view of 'tech' for it to make sense. Apple success on the shoulders of a wide app developer ecosystem, not on the narrower set of other tech titans.

I loved Simple, but had to move back to a traditional bank when I got married. Lack of joint accounts was the major problem, but it also turns out being able to write your own checks instantly has some real advantages (over waiting for 1+ w

Fantasy RPGs tend to do a pretty good job of this. The macro path your character follows is consistent, but there are choices and class-specific stories that create a sense of character. I think the question comes down to the ‘role playing’

Had the same reaction to corpo path. I think it would actually be interesting to tell a story about that culture from the inside, rather than immediately retreating to the well-trodden anti-corp perspective. For a supposedly ambitious game,

YouTube censors content all the time. Pornography and pirated content, being just the most obvious examples. Others that want censored content have only to look to other sites to find that content. In my opinion, YouTube should (and does) h

I wish there were a market for pamphlets (as there was in ye olde days). Hear me out. So many categories of books (business, psychology) could more effectively communicate their core thesis to a lay audience via 40-90 pages[0]. A long artic

If I recall correctly, this is more due to Netflix than Apple. Not sure if it is business terms or data privacy, but Apple seems open to as many TV App participants as possible.

Rose-tinted Red Car nostalgia is common in the post Roger Rabbit era. It was a poor private solution to what would later be a big public problem, and you can read a more neutral take on its demise at 99% Invisible [0]. I lived in LA for qui
