> Internal restructuring of the company may even take you from working on backend web apis to distributed databases. This isn’t true. I’ve worked in multiple FAANG companies’ infrastructure orgs, including distributed kv stores, as a SWE

How do you know if these LLMs are stating facts instead of hallucinating? Also, where would these things learn about new topics?

There's not much context here that explains why this is noteworthy. Arena allocation by itself isn't anything to write home about- is anyone able to explain why this is special?

They won’t be able to enforce it effectively, IMO. It’ll be similar to the US laws against exporting cryptography software.

My photographed documents go on Google Photos and I can just use the image search. I pay for it and don’t really care if Google sees it all- I get what I need.

As an AWS employee, you’re under too much artificial deadline pressure to address technical debt like this… let alone engineer a service properly in the first place.

Don’t you feel the need to set down roots of some kind? I would want a regular group of friends to see, a relationship, community… Doing something like this seems like it would prevent any kind of close relationships.

What did the teachers even DO to be heroes? It's not like they tried to turn these kids' lives around or something. They didn't even to the bare minimum of their jobs... They basically just showed up to work and rubber-stampe

Let's say there's a software tech lead and they've been code reviewing patches from a junior software engineer at your company. There are no tests, no CI to validate it, and it probably doesn't even compile... That tech

This is replacing a 1-hour phone screen with a 6-hour project. You're still going to rule out a bunch of good people who will refuse to spend that much time on a first-round interview.

I understand the frustration with recruiters, but this is ridiculous. The vast majority of people are not vindictive enough to change professions to recruiting just so they can torture candidates. Don’t add to the toxicity of the internet w

I've done my fair share of algorithmic hoop-jumping and have worked at a few of these companies over the last 10 years. I'm not convinced that the people performing these interviews are able to tell how a candidate's brain wo
