Seems like a poor excuse. Just add in modern CPUs with the same TDP, and for the GPUs two Quadro 5000s (I think even the 6000 would work) have lower TDP than the FirePro D700s currently used.

What is the limit on creating bigger chips? If some of the money/effort was focused on being able to fab larger chips instead of decreasing feature size... I don't know much about lithography so maybe the answer is obvious to thos

What is the difference between being "a big time AI guy" and being "deeply involved with AI projects for at least the last decade"?

Maybe it is region dependent? I have some younger relatives and high school/middle school and they make it seem like almost every at their school is vaping (mostly the new juul things)

I remember hearing about some smart TV that remembers your WiFi password even if you tell it to forget the network. I plug my TV into Ethernet to update it and disconnect it immediately.

Probably not, since Nvidia eGPUs are not currently supported by Apple. Although, it is possible to compile TensorFlow from source with CUDA support for macOS. You have to make a few tweaks to the source code and symlink some libraries.

100 Titan Vs = $300k. And the big deal about this system is the NvSwitch which allows the GPUs to appear to software as a single huge GPU.

This is fairly standard practice (although I don’t know if ImageMagick is specifically used).

Where are you coming up with these claims? First of all, the article is talking about gender equality and not social safety nets (although the two may be correlated). But more importantly, the countries with more gender equality tend to als

From '02-'06 (or even '02-'017) did Musk send anything to another planet/leave Earth orbit? No. Maybe you could argue the Falcon 1 was an expensive hobby, but interplanetary spaceflight is certainly not.

Well it’s easy to do with two people because the first person can just guess the color of the second, since we are allowed one wrong guess. I don’t see how this can be extended.

I’m not sure this is a great analogy. If we didn’t know anything about the locks (target binding sites) I would agree with you, but there is no reason to enforce that restriction. A pipeline that given a target binding could predict a numbe

I work in an HPC lab (computational chemistry) and we have a hand-coded AVX-512 codepath. I can't give any specifics (because I don't know them) but I know there is a non-trivial speedup versus the standard codepath (or AVX2). How

I’m curious why you couldn’t use the 2014 model anymore? I still use mine with the 750m and it works fine for testing the CUDA programming I do. Really hope there’s one with an Nvidia card by the time I decide to upgrade.
