My understanding is it's about application state - cookies, mutations, etc... If the request is "give me the profile photo of the logged-in user" - the response depends on the stateful question of who is the logged-in user. I

Can you try to dig that up and share it with us? It sounds a lot like some versions of meditation, but I'd be really interested to read it.

I agree that Tesla is unlikely to be interested in playing directly in a tightly regulated market as a utility. But they are happy to sell solar and storage to utilities, to the extent that power grids still provide useful services. (And I

I was actually expecting a pretty big drop today given the huge recent runup, so it's fair to say that my breath is not held. But it's the long term I care about, and I'm fairly confident that Tesla is well-positioned for the

I dunno. My bullish view has more to do with Tesla using the vehicle market as an entry point to the broader energy market. If the Tesla cars start throwing off profit and make the company self-sustaining, their vertically-integrated energy

That's interesting...that's my theory about recorded music in the early 20th century when folks figured out how to commoditize music and stamp it out as a product to be consumed instead of a culture to be shared. How do you see Sp

Twenty's plenty! Popular in the UK, but in the US we seem to think it's more appropriate to mark residential streets at 25 but design them to encourage driving at 45+.

Yeah, Capitol Corridor is great! I wonder what it would take to convert a bunch of those folks who jam up 80 and 680 every day into riders ... I suppose it’s more complicated than just moving the right-of-way and stations into the more popu

Right on! Was just driving Oakland to Sacramento last week and lamenting the fact there isn’t a semi-high speed train tracking the freeways all the way out there. So much of our exurban sprawl puts people on 2 hour commutes along that route

Thing about car crashes is...they are the #1 most common cause of death for young people from age 5-25. If you look at the population-wide stats, things are dominated by diseases of aging because more old folks are dying overall. Every deat

If you live in a small town of 100,000 people, that means 11 of your neighbors will be killed by drivers crashing their cars every year. And that doesn’t account for the deaths and health costs caused by road pollution, by inactive lifestyl

It’s funny you mention 99.99% - because 40,000 people are killed by car crashes in a year in the United States, which is actually .012% of the population. So cars actually do a bit worse than your stat...

Studies have actually shown that electric cars produce more than 90% as much particulate-matter air pollution as fossil fuel cars. The reason for this is two-fold: 1. Modern gasoline cars produce very clean exhaust. 2. Most of the particula
