I really really loved Nielsen and Matushak's Quantum country. https://quantum.country There are two reasons I like it. There is no mumbo jumbo about polarising filters and "look how mysterious" it is. No. They co

Immutability is very very common. It makes reasoning much simpler. Source code control systems don't mutate in place. They create new versions. All modern relational databases (Oracle, Sql Server, Postgres) don't modify records in

The word genocide has a much more sinister import than 'kill all'. It literally means kill all of one race ('geno'). I wouldn't call terminating a child process 'infanticide' either.

I heard this anecdote in India, and I'm not sure if it is apocryphal. There was a small airline flying turboprops to service a Himalayan region. Someone asked whether it was safe to fly these planes and the response was as hilarious as

This seems hugely complicated. I make yogurt daily. Warm up milk to lukewarm. Mix spoonful of starter. Bundle the vessel in a thick towel for insulation. Leave it overnight. (Or less, if you live in a very warm place). If it is cold, I warm

It is difficult because your standards are higher than what you can dish out effortlessly. That's a good thing. Higher standards are the route to better work, and towards even higher standards. Make peace with never feeling satisfied

nope. Sequencing and imperative have an overlap, but they are not the same thing. Sequencing is a fundamental computing construct. Data flow graphs allow you to specify sequences, just as shell pipelines do. SQL has sequentiality built-in w
