Interesting. Could Apple replace voicemail with their own system? Eventually they might even be able to merge the phone app into the messages app. Phone calls over wifi, new voicemail etc.

by spydertennis 14y ago
Isn't this just voicemail? There are even services that let you leave a voicemail directly without actually calling the person. How is this different/better than that?

what are you basing this on?

I can vouch for Tom at Pwinty being great to work with. A few weeks ago I asked if their printing api could be extended to more options. Tom said yes and got me a quote in 24 hours. They are very flexible.

Worked exactly the same for me. Blown away thinking about all the cool ways to leverage this.

good to see zerocater expanding beyond tech companies!

Interesting. Can you provide any rationale or data to support this?

We have only begun to scratch the surface of devices that interact with/are controlled by our phones. Good to see Google popularizing the concept. I wish Apple would make accessory design more accessible.

Update: I have spoken with Greg and the indiegogo is being taken down. Sorry to everyone who got an unsolicited email or donated to the campaign.

Working on it!

I'm really sorry about that. We kept trying but never had the cash to source a replacement and get it re-certified for use with our product.

by spydertennis 14y ago
David, planning on writing something up soon! Hopefully other people can learn from our many trials and tribulations. Getting EU certification was actually pretty easy. I'll be sure to include information on that.

I don't want to give any concrete details yet (this forced a premature announcement). We are hoping to include everything one would need to replicate the product.

The firmware was fixed. Only the initial batch of units that was sent out had the issue. And almost all of those were refurbished by us.

Oops, the information on that page is outdated. Greg is a co-founder of WakeMate. Edit: as per swombat's comment below changed "was" to "is"

this is interesting. you could add alerts to show when something has an XX% rise in popularity. for example the explosion in keywords. basically creating stock market types graphs for keywords?
