Security companies are all snakeoil. They never deliver from experience. They always bill though.

Again... personally I can't see why anyone would want to DDoS github unless they are just being an asshat.

Forgot about that. Was on the windows 95 CD somewhere. Remember watching it at work on a new Compaq DeskPro after complaining that they ripped the task bar off RISCOS. Didn't work on NT4 which i had at the time :(

I could do the same myself and certainly will next year. The only appliance I have that consumes mega power is the washing machine. I've got a gas Aga that can be converted to solid fuel if need be and provides most of the heating as w

Although I can say that nothing I've bought at Ikea has lasted a terribly long time. Tend to go for non chipboard and non UV sensitive plastic stuff now that you can actually clean and leave in the sun without destroying it.

On the basis that he was not aware of PRISM, does that make you feel any better about the promises made by them? Nope. Slightly regretting writing that 450,000 lines of C# in the last 10 years...

Yes there is. You misunderstand. My beef is with NaCl, objects, Applets and ActiveX etc as well, mainly because they run outside of the browser's engine, sandbox, security model and conceptual model. you also have to ship them external

Great effort but I really don't want this. I've lived without Flash for a year now and all is good. We just need to break the crack addiction!

For now. Watch what happens when Mir ships: 1. Noone will use Mir because xlib apps and non-ported toolkits will fail miserably. 2. It will not get tested properly. 3. Release+1 with XMir will be shipped and Mir will be turned on. 4. All he

You have not offended me - don't worry :) What I'm saying is that the web transcends all platforms so writing an app isn't necessary. Microsoft actually do get this hence the focus on IE and Windows Azure recently. They proba

Bank site? Mine doesn't have apps as far as I'm aware for any platform (HSBC). They require two factor auth which makes the app idea pretty pointless as you have to carry two things around with you. I travel without a smartphone.

Excluding it from the desktop for one release is killing it. A big chunk of ubuntu's repository is now broken, resulting in a big "fuck you" from the users (including me) and no more donations... Even if they ship X and Mir

Yes but why would you want to? I can't think of a single long term advantage of using a language that high level to build system software. Sure it makes a cute research project but that's about it. As for application level stuff,

Well by killing XMir they've done that. There is a lot of legacy xlib stuff floating around that will now be excluded from the Ubuntu platform. Mir is just a square wheel like all the other crap I have to uninstall when someone install

To be honest, 8.1 is OK. It's not perfect but it sits in the rankings between XP and 7. It's also going to be a free upgrade. Basically you can turn off most of the crap and use the start screen as a start menu and it's beara

Please don't spout the "fewer apps" rubbish. Debian has fewer apps. Ubuntu has fewer apps. Does this mean anything? No. I actually only use three "apps" that aren't built in on my WP8 device.
