Entrepreneurs are, by definition, outliers. I don't think it makes much sense to compare them to -- or include data for them in -- an analysis of the average worker.

You don't vote for a Third Party Candidate. You vote for a Third Party Platform. Once the Platform gains the support of a few percent of voters, it is adopted by the major parties. This is how every progressive agenda from the abolitio

Employee #1 isn't going to get a signing bonus at a startup. What you should get is equity. Then, you need to negotiate an exceleration clause if you are dismissed without cause. Basically, you should vest a slug of stock immediately u

I couldn't agree more. I think wikimedia is being incredibly unethical. I certainly won't be contributing to them anymore. If it's OK for them to use the product of Mr. Slater's equipment without his consent, why should

It's true. I think so many of us assume black swans are negative because we first heard the term to describe the subprime mortgage mess.

Not really. The networking costs to stream to that many users is huge. Google has the infrastructure to change the cost structure but it only works with that kind of scale.

It simply doesn't apply. A black swan is a rare event that is almost certain to happen (or at least one of them will) that will destroy vast amounts of wealth. Because they are so rare and it's so hard to predict which one will ac

I would go to car lots and talk to as many salesmen as you can. You might find someone who's interested and they would have industry experience. Set a goal of 100 car lots and hit the pavement. When you're done you might not have

That's just bad business. It's like the MPAA and RIAA suing their customers. In the short run you can bully a few independent people but, in the long run, you are eroding your user base -- or developer base in this case. I conside

It all started with Shockly (sp?) & Co. building better bombs. The first disruption was putting the transistor in something as stupid as a radio. Seems to me that society's always been more interested in the stupid consumer applica

This is actually one of those catch 22's of wealth: if you're in the 50% you probably feel better about your money than you do if you're in the 2% or -- even worse -- the bottom of the 1%. The reason is that the 49% is almost

That was exactly my thought before reading this. I assume that the same people are getting richer because they're well diversified and, as such, can benefit both from the status quo and from disruption. Then I read the article and real

The problem is your dealing with a court who decided that the _search result_ should be deleted and not the web page that is "inaccurate, inadequate, irrelevant or excessive". I would not bother arguing logically with them.

"The 4 Hour Workweek" had a great launch strategy that I suggest you steal. Tim Ferris basically did what we call Lean these days to figure out what he should title his book so that it would sell well.

Andreesen and I have the same perspective that Snowden's leak was definitely not a "revelation." We both already assumed the NSA was spying because it's a spy organization. So, without any benefit, the only affect of Sno
