How is this weak political agitation on top of HN? It reads like a paroody. You’re an anthropology professor, what’s the ‘need’ for that?” (And indeed a lot of tabloid readers would take the existence of my job as the very definition of wa

There are S3 and Swift (OpenStack storage) which can be used through standardized APIs. Storage in both standards is offered by many independent providers.

It's pretty crazy that browsers send referral in the first place. Getting rid of it, accidentally or not, is not a bug. I use refcontrol[1] to spoof the referral. I'm always visiting from the front page of the website even though

When you're setting up a website for someone else, it's much easier to deal with no billing than it is even with $1/year. Email services provided on the side by hosting companies (or worse, registrars) don't measure up t

There's Yandex Mail for domains[1]. The domain panel is in Russian only but webmail is available in other languages including English. [1] https://pdd.yandex.ru/domains_add/

It is sad that completely factual, sourced and on-topic comments get downvoted on HN just because they go against the political beliefs of downvoters who don't even bother responding.

I don't really understand this comment. You can host exim+mutt anywhere. With a megacorp, in the cloud, even under your bed... The only problem you face is getting the giants to accept your mail so you will probably want another server
