I don't think we CAN downvote posts, can we? Only comments, I think. Pity, because other people have upvoted you and I'd like to help.

IIRC, THE Greg Egan has a (genuinely excellent, peer-reviewed) maths paper with John Baez, and a number of smaller or unpublished contributions to professional maths.

I like this reply very much except that I wonder why people say that sports cars are uncomfortable. I find all the ones I've driven, including two mid-engined ones, super comfortable. Maybe it's just me. (In any case, your poin

If my master password is compromised, do I want all my other passwords to be compromised too?! Or have I misunderstood what "deterministic" means?

Good question! Thank you! The short answer is that logical positivism was always extremely diverse, and there's no reason to think that there's a consistent core to it, but if there is then it has to do with a belief in making pr

I love the style to pieces, but I stopped reading when on the very first page I tried I found something that was central to the post but plain wrong, namely the conflation of logical positivism with verificationism. That's totally inc

I totally agree. I object to Electron apps when they use a lot of my CPU cycles AND they're for functions that I want to run all the time, like chat programs. Not a problem for a video editor.

IMO those are good ideas. I've set up a few NixOS servers with various general-purpose VPS companies, and there are often minor irritations in getting the OS installed.
