Hey, I know this must be there in the sdk docs somewhere, but can the knob on the side of the watch be used as an input device? Also, I wish I had more upvotes to give you. EDIT: Oh, never mind, just saw that its a button, not a knob.

This happens every now and then in most state-run colleges in India. The pattern is like this - some kid who has never been exposed to the internet comes to college and is exposed to high-speed, unlimited internet and gets immediately hooke

The contention isn't that search quality sucks - it is that search quality has declined visibly over the past few months. Personally, I find most of the articles maligning Google to be little more than linkbait trying to capitalise on a mem

It was my understanding that with phones, the bulk of the time is spent in testing the radio hardware to bring it up to compliance. That's why there is such a large delay between reference implementations and actual hardware. Software-wise,

You should've seen Ryan Paul's twitter feed today. It was brutal watching his love for Meego break down into cynical snark for Nokia.

They can trigger remote uninstallations as well. I can't find a link, but when the apps which were sending private data to some server in China were discovered about 6 months back, Google remotely uninstalled the app from users' phones. It'

Your point and the responses so far bring up what I consider to be Android's biggest problem - unpredictability. Since background software can run haphazardly, a single piece of misbehaving software can bring even the most powerful Android

About the files with the Oracle copyright header, it seems to be on some remote tree that I can't even browse. Can you opine on whether it was ever actually shipped?

I can't help but think that this is almost an exact parallel of the iPhone antenna problem. Both companies had minor to medium problems in their flagship products, both problems were vastly overblown by the media, both problems spurred an u

Unless I am mistaken, willful infringement applies to patents, whereas this only proves willful copyright infringement. Are the willful infringement clauses for copyright as well?

How does this extension behave with Gmail shortcuts? I love keyboard navigation in Gmail and would hate to lose it.

Indeed, using a smartphone to emulate a keyboard is definitely overkill, but it is also a really effective mechanism. Nobody thinks twice before plugging someone else's phone into their computers.

Well, we're talking about two things, really- the webm reference implementation and the license under which the patents covering the spec are licensed. I guess the reference implementation is free as in freedom, and the spec is free as in b

The whole point of moving things to the browser was to remove any lockin advantages a specific platform might have. That is the reason Flash gets so much hate from anybody who doesn't use Windows. Going back to OS-specific codecs would limi

You're quite right, but I think its ridiculous to ask Google to give you a free license to their patents even as you are suing them for infringing yours.

No, clearly it's not Free as in FSF, but 'free as in beer' is the only thing that separates it from H.264, it's definitely the most accurate description I've seen yet.

The webm spec is frozen, and all patents are irrevocably licensed. Webm is not 'controlled' by Google.

Ok, here is how I define minimal software freedom - I give you a piece of software, along with source code, you are free to use it in anyway you please, or make your modifications and distribute it to as many people as you like. With H.264

H.264 is probably superior to webm. I don't understand video codecs, but it's the consensus opinion among people who know this stuff. However, I fail to see how its relevant in any way. The tegra2 can already decode 1080p vp8 in hardware, a
