Hmm? If you accidentally turned on the flashlight and it was left on, you would be bummed to find out your battery had drained next time you picked it up.

We took a variable mortgage last round (December 2020) because we were considering moving with a couple years. Supposedly the penalties of getting out of a fixed rate were costly, whereas they are less so (none?) with the variable flavour.

Oh come on. Bad? Shame? I don’t know about you but my thumb is always at the bottom of the screen. Why would I want to reach all the way to the top to reach the address bar?

It was a bug, and is now fixed.

For me this needs to work with Apple’s Calendar and Reminders. Currently I’ve got a series of shortcuts that do almost all of this; the recipes stored in a notes folder. The diffed shopping list is the only missing part, you’d have to keep

Most of the complaints I’ve seen are around the face/eye tracking. Improved in the second generation and even more so in the Z9 but still not quite on par with Sony/Canon.

Never say ever. We just lost power for 5 days, and some are still without power today (day 9) after high winds (130km/h) ripped apart our local infrastructure. This is in Ottawa, Canada.

This is what I do (not Django but same idea). Works lovely. Between that and a 900+ package npm install for a simple demo code I’ve given up on “modern JS frameworks”. Or maybe I just got old!

My colleague with family in the region has said that the hospitals are evacuated and being used for logistics. Which might explain why they would be targeted. This video being described as “difficult to watch” seems a lot like propaganda. I

Yeah! I’ so confused reading some of these comments. Isn’t “loan” to lend money, and “borrow” to receive money? Do some locales use “loan” as both?

I’ve got my head in the sand. Good thing I stopped checking my investments too. I’ll let you guys on HN let me know when things are good again :)

I haven’t checked the news since June 1, 2020. As part of some self imposed pandemic related health precautions. I’ll ask Siri to read me the news and listen to the five minute overview which is all I need to make sure WWIII hasn’t broken o

Make sure they don’t forget! In the chaos after birth, sometimes these things slip through. I’m not sure what happened when our first was born, but I do remember the folks who came by a bit later to pick up the cord being annoyed that the d

I think so too. I had to roll my own (which was half the fun) and slowly add new features as I go. Compiled with Crystal-lang and SQLite; you just drop in a single binary and away you go.

As an aside, have you noticed any improvements from training with a mask on? Is it like how runners might train at high altitude, so when you come back to normal levels you are more efficient?

You are correct. Hyperscript.org is a companion library to htmx; they are totally different from the JSX Hyperscript.

It says it is designed for hard mode, in which I believe you must use your green (and maybe yellow?) letters.

Indeed. I remember drawing my own maps on paper before we had a computer at home. It seems so simple looking back.

Bah, I miss it. It should've been so much more. I bought my first 4/3 in 2012... but my interest faded. Flash forward a decade and I bought my first full frame last year. The new Canon RF lineup has some great potential, but damn

While I still struggle with reaching for my phone, the watch has made things much easier. I try and leave the phone in the front entrance. After that, I can still be “connected” with the watch. Messages from my wife, emails if I need to che

Check out htmx. I use it for thing like table pagination. Server side I check for htmx headers, and if so omit headers/footers are just return the body. htmx then handles the html swap and boom, you’ve just turned the page without relo

What is going to shear the screws in a shed?

by speg 5y ago
Signed in to say this. I built a shed in my backyard as one of my first DIY projects and also used screws. Not even structural screws, just standard 3” construction screws. The thing is solid. No one is walking around on it. It isn’t under
