I'm one "in the know", so I'll answer that part. Heck yeah it is valuable. My area has numerous employers that are eager to hire people with that skill set. It pays more than the typical software development jobs. Most o

There is no "2200 square foot beast". That is just a median home. It's a bit cramped, but adequate. Right now you could get 4400 square feet on a 1 acre lot for $400,000 in Melbourne or Palm Bay. You CoL difference is only 2x

I think you underestimate the COL difference because you are settling for inferior housing. Do you at least have a low-end house, such as 2000 square feet on a 0.25 acre lot that is all your own? Around here in the Space Coast area, that go

You may come out way ahead if non-local expenses are a large portion of your budget. Everybody else loses. I'm out of the bay area, at a government contractor, with an interesting job. I can afford a huge family, currently with 14 peop

I think you may be right about normalizing roommates, which is a horrifying thought. Roommates aren't even OK in college. Past college, I can't see how it would be willingly endured. It's barely above being homeless. Being in

Single family detached homes go for $2,000,000 in San Francisco. The condos are less, generally, so I think that says that the most expensive and desirable locations in the U.S. are mostly single family detached homes.

There is no place to park. The city works if you are able-bodied without kids. In that case, you walk as far as 11 miles but usually just a few miles. It also sort of works for the people with $2,000,000 single-family homes, because driving

Look at the www.monolithic.com floor plans. Because the domes are large, typical rooms will have 2 or 3 straight walls. It's only the exterior wall that is curved.

Circular homes minimize the required material and the surface through which heat is lost or gained. In normal places, there is no need to think about maximizing the land usage. People typically put a 2000 square foot house on a 10000 square

There is a lot between "urban" and "rural". You could be car-free in my non-urban area. I don't do that, but you certainly could. It's the Florida cities/towns of Melbourne, Indialantic, and Palm Bay. From

It's about $4000 for food. It's been a while since I looked at the rest. The house and cars are paid off. I don't expect to pay for college for all 12. They start dual-enrollment as early as 12, with the school district payin

There is no public body of work if the person kept busy working under an NDA. You certainly couldn't see the code (not that you could know who did what as part of a team) and you might not even get to know what the project was.
