Weirdly I relate to some of your experiences in a lot of ways. - Middle school was really the only time in my life i had the free time to learn instruments. I played a lot of guitar and even played with friends. Never had the time after. -

I have a good boss. I know I do, not just think it. Did you phrase your question with the implication that many who think they have a good boss actually don't? or am I reading too much into your word choice

So I googled and saw that there's 4.8 Million apple employees in China? More than i expected when I started the Google search. With that said, is that enough for China to care at all? a little? a lot? Meaning, I wouldn't be surpri

How is self-made a myth? Not saying all billionaires should be envied, praised, etc. I'm sure many are huge manipulative asshole. But many also came from very modest to virtually no means, how is that a myth?

I'm amazed at how South Park after 23 seasons can make me laugh out loud repeatedly while combining classic south parkisms with hilarious satire of current events. I'm a big south park fan and these 2 episodes so far have been on

If you're earning 300k (estimated from the almost 150k you said you pay in taxes), are you really in the upper middle class? from this article [1], 300k salary puts you in the top 5% of income earners. i don't know how you figure

My issue with articles and stances like this is that I agree that rent seeking behavior is obviously an issue. Rent seeking is by definition unproductive economic behavior. But the existence of rent seeking does not serve as proper indictme

I have been drinking coffee everyday for practically 7 years. I've stopped it at times but most recently i stopped to deal with some stomach acid issues. Quitting definitely helped with that but an unintentional side effect was my libi

How much data/information that the UN used was able to be influenced by the Soviet Union and its records? genuinely curious, I have no idea where the UN estimates come from nor a particular thought/agenda on the matter

Those EU and Nordic countries are not democratic socialist though. The Prime Minister of Denmark repudiated Bernie's comments saying so. They even say they are capitalist with strong safety nets, which is not socialism.

Glad you've found what works for you! Just wanted to comment that I love that you abbreviated OMAD. I've done it too and after a week or so of feeling a little dizzy around 3pm, my body fully adapted to OMAD. I just find it funny

My favorite are the conspiracy theories as to why the outages are seemingly so close together in this Summer of 2019. All kinds of imaginative reasons abound. My best guess is summer vacation :) it's at least true for my company who wa

Paywalled articles are a frequent (and allowed) occurrence. Many times, a commenter will post a link to the full text via some means like outline.com The HN community has already answered this question.

It is very worrying. It is like regulatory capture, but not implemented at the request of the company. It was done purely by the EU. By requiring cutting edge and practically non existent technology, it somewhat requires a monopoly by the o
