What kind of companies did you apply to? I'll share my personal experience, in case it helps. I only apply to small startups (less than 50 employees, but I usually get hired in places with <10 people). These have much more straightf

From my personal experience, I disagree completely with the advice that "non-youngsters" switching careers to software development should aim for "non-fashionable" tech. I started to learn software development at 37 year

A more informative title could be ”I finally got how to win on Twitter” , because that’s what this person wanted. They wanted to “win”. That’s not what I want. I “got” Twitter from my first time using it. I wanted to follow a mix of divers

Turning on my cynicism switch on a bit. The author is a very good content marketer. A hot topic in our corner of the world — which is author’s target audience — is Elon Musk buying Twitter. Musk tweeted that the percentage of bots is the ma

I thought this was fiction until I read HN comments. Not sure I like this style for this sort of story.

For me what’s wrong is that ”buildingless students” in rich universities is not a social problem at all, so funding those has no positive impact in the society.

Agree with what? OP is no making any point, just a joke. And if I am to take the joke more serious, it would mean that there is no defense whatsoever for using SPA. It just indefensible. Which is a different argument of ”SPA for everything

I personally preferred the tweet because I can’t read the article. Also, the tweets are personal statements (which seemed relevant to me), not just a link to the article (only mentioned in the last tweet of the thread).

I think it is very very very unlikely that he would earn more money switching jobs as a salesman in a small town in Brazil during the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s. Almost no market is like software development in the 2010s and 2020

I am glad Ron thinks like that. I didn’t know there was this rage against not being pixel art (but I should have suspected). I am glad it isn’t. I backed and loved Thimbleweed Park (even the ending), but that project was all around nostalgi

I agree with you, but I appreciate that people on HN talk like this because then I am presented to this world of privileges. It shows to me that this world exists and I might benefit from it. That happened to me. Instead of anchoring myself

I took offense to your comment. I found the title a complete clickbait. I couldn’t find any humor in it that would make me think otherwise. The content of the text is completely unrelated to any part of the title. And I don’t think I am ped

Interesting book review. Bizarre title choice. Not only clickbaity, but doesn’t capture any point present in any part of the review. It doesn’t go into who don’t admit, or why, why it’s the best novel and according to whom (the author only

The phrasing confused me. It is being performed for almost 21 years (since 2001) and it will be continuously performed for the next 618 years (hopefully). Initially I thought it was being performed since year 1383 (639 years ago).
