Was my first gut reaction as well. Especially when i saw `$state(0)`. But watch the introduction video. It isn't at all like the functional reactivity that entered other frameworks. It's still the svelte way. Read and assign is pl

If you are on the fence between android or iphone, then yes, this review is useless. But if someone is deep into the ecosystem of apple, which apparently is 15% of the world, this review valuable. Where I may agree thou - as someone who lis

The owner of a repository dying (assumption) is an example why you don't trust modern software? The active maintainers moved the project to a shared repository with a different name 2 years after the creator was seen anywhere.

Yeah, I bought two co2 meters - one for each room - after a hackernews thread about losing cognitive function with rising levels. So I only bought them to improve work. Really wanted to know how often and long I have to open the windows. Of

If css had a strong opinion and better syntax for responsiveness by screen width, css frameworks were way less popular. Tailwind, bootstrap and co. aren't used to avoid writing css. It's used because writing `class="my-4 mb-s

If people bounce on your top ranked sites, google will punish you. After all, googles business is to find what people are looking for. 10 years ago I was working at a company that only lived on "organic traffic". And that page die

It's not VR though. Nearly all demos showed windows being projected into your surroundings. Cutting yourself off is a physical knob, and even then close objects will fade into your view. This is not like VR at all. This is more like lo

Isn't chatgpt/bing chat just a mirror of human language? Of course it gonna get defensive if you pressure or argue with it. That's what humans do. If you want cold, neutral "star trek data" like interaction, then in

Yes, the year over year improvements were 90% just the tsmc node changes. But the ridiculous (and IMO amazing) performance per watt is a mix of iOS/macOS and their chip design. Those efficiency cores are unmatched, paired with the righ

Without syntactic sugar that differentiates a language from another, I see no way for a new language to become popular. So while some decisions may seem confusing, they helped gathering interest. IMO ruby and python became so popular becaus

This annoyed me a lot. E.g. https://open.spotify.com/album/2qgVJm03eVhUr0GBif7FY0 became unavailable a while ago. At least Spotify is transparent about it: Still listed, just not playable. I made peace with music disap

There is a stark effort, skill level, art direction and knowing the limits of cgi cliff between good and "slightly off". How else do you explain district 9 from 13 years ago vs e.g. 200 mio. budget black widow from a year ago. Mea

The combination of a CEO that wants to do cool stuff, infinite money thanks to Steam, and no need for growth at all costs because of lack of investors - it's rare and glorious.

While annoying, all intellij EAPs (early access previews) are very cpu intensive, as they run in debug mode by default to create diagnostics and crash reports. Kinda similar like if you would keep the debugger open in your browser. Not sure

If you want to reduce memory consumption by your node.js server, minify it (e.g. via esbuild in node.js mode) and don't use inline source maps (if you want to keep source maps, use .map files). node.js keeps all source code as string i

This may give insights in how brain memory and thinking works. Imagine if some day a computer could take a snapshot of the weights and memory bits of the brain and then reconstruct memories and thoughts.

Single file components like .svelte and .vue are nice at first glance. But I want typescript, eslint and prettier understand my code natively and not wrapped in custom syntax and smushed into one file that every tooling now has to support.
