Normally the conservatives would never be able to push this authoritarian agenda so openly, but a unique set of circumstances has given them the opening to push through some of their most extreme objectives. The Conservatives are the only m

I'd maybe disagree that there is "no security gain from tweeting about this". I think there is a security gain from warning people that an urgent security patch is on the way so they should prepare themselves/their organ

Malicious actors are far more proactive already about watching for security patches and reverse engineering them to work out how to exploit unpatched systems. Once a patch is released the cat is out the bag, and the only solution is to patc

How about streaming your transactions to a budgeting service to approve or deny if you've gone over budget for the month. Or build your own rules to deny certain transactions if you are approaching 0 balance. I think there are lots of

That is one less generous interpretation of the policy. However, knowing Amazon are fairly big proponents of Lean/Kanban/Systems Thinking, I suspect the intent is actually a different one. The alternative interpretation would be:

I really don't get this line of thinking at all. In any coalition compromises are required. Yes the Lib Dems made a campaign promise not to increase tuition fees. But (and this is important), they DID NOT WIN the general election so th

For the types of places this device will appeal to (small businesses where individual transactions are less that £30), contactless is taking over (in the UK at least) so this is less of a concern I think.

I think that's one of the big problems the Kodi team has with these 'fully loaded' boxes [1]. People buy them and they work for a week, and then the streams break, etc. and these people have no idea how to update them so they

Upgrading database versions is mentioned briefly in the article, but is pretty much a show stopper at the moment for some databases. e.g. Postgres ( https://github.com/docker-library/postgres/issues/37 )

Ahh, the paradox of being the market leader. Remember when Chrome tried to innovate with how we use bookmarks? [1] People cry out for innovation, but then freak out when said innovation happens. This is why disrupters are so successful - th

Chrome has been going this route for a while now as it was getting so much flak for poor performance, security issues, etc. that was actually because of maliciously installed extensions. Their only option was to only allow extensions instal

The ESC key should hardly be a deal breaker for Vim devs - most remap it to caps lock on a Mac because it's easier to reach. The 13" model has a version that keeps that row anyway. And the Touch Bar does still have a function key

Apparently you haven't been on the London Underground at rush hour. The escalator halls aren't long enough for an orderly queue to form on one side when a tube offloads its passengers.

This. Systems Thinking teaches us that optimising a small part of the system (walking up the escalators) can have unintended consequences (bottlenecks/queues elsewhere) that result in the time through the whole system to be slower.
