Sun should focus on producing Java acceleration hardware, especially making multicore behemoth servers designed for Java thread concurrency. Sun already has enterprise customers, they own Java, and Java is their customers platform of choi

Isn't about time the damn web browsers give us a native rich edit control already, the way Tim Bernes-Lee first imagined the web content editing would be like? Then can we have a file upload control that can be styled and select multiple fi

Maybe and maybe not. Prototype has some features built-in that jQuery implements as plugins. Personally I prefer jQuery + plugins.

Putting a little bit of logic in markup is OK, and Yahoo store pages are a good example of when that is appropriate because Yahoo store merchants just want some customization logic not a full-blown web app. Putting a lot of logic in markup

Interesting series. Here's a different approach to code parsing which some people may find easier using Top Down Order Precedence: http://javascript.crockford.com/tdop/tdop.html The example explained on that page by Douglas Crockford (Yah

I don't care how your define 1/0 as long as my program keeps running. I always found it to be inexcusable that a run-time environment would halt a program that tried to do N/0 as if it allowing it would cause a complete and utter loss of da

I disagree. Reia is not misguided at all. It's not trying to improve Erlang but rather expose Erlang features to those who don't quite grock Erlang's idioms. Programming languages evolve because someone, perhaps a fashion-conscious fanboy

Ah, the pitfalls of being acquired. You can't resist that sweet acquisition cash but at the end of the day the devil gets his due. If you are ever so fortunate to be acquired then just face it, you are not going to like your new masters, so

Therein lays the problem. If Adobe would release an affordable version of Flash, or if any of the open source SWF compilers out there could keep up with the latest Actionscript specs, then more developers would get hooked on it. But I guess
