You're thinking about the Shannon's theorem. Here it is about knowing what operations the CPU is performing/looping on. This frequency is not related directly to the frequency at which the CPU operates: it's related to the frequency at whic

Of course! It was not a direct advice to data center hardware admins (but I guess they know better). :) Anyway, with physical access, there are countless other ways to harm your encryption mechanisms.

You're right, it was a single core Celeron (IIRC). I assume it would be way harder with a quad core. Two (running) cores can be manageable, except if the second core executes a program specifically designed to scramble the ultrasonic signal

It's not only about Apple products, it's about personal computers, or large touch-screen based smartphones. Without the (first) Macintosh, the PC ecosystem would be different.

That has to be related somehow to mutation testing. They used that at my engineering school to test our (Java-subset) compilers, along with a lot of unit (or not) tests. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutation_testing

I don't think so. Economic growth != amount of consumption gross. Economic growth can be linked to innovation, luxury, well-being. And using less energy to achieve the same thing as before is economic growth. Also, there, they only measure

Reference needed for "creating 3x more in return". I don't say it isn't true, I just think it's really hard to measure (what is a job "killed by the Internet"/how far do we strech it). I just know that "98% of all statistics are made up".

Do you think DoD did not think about it previously while they put transmitters on birds? I think it has to do with autonomy, speed (a real bird is more energy efficient, is more powerful and has a longer flight autonomy), and electronic sig
