While I find many things wrong with social media, I don't get the idea that for me to get value out of it, I need people to engage with my posts. Why? I'm more interested in seeing pictures and updates about people I care about

Are you commenting on the right article? This is about a testing library, and doesn't mention SQL?

But customers are already paying for 'unlimited internet' -- or for some amount of data up to a cap. You're suggesting that we should double charge the providers that the customers want to access, as well?

You probably shouldn't use tmate inside of most corps, your security team might be unhappy with bypassing network controls.

I don't think your distinction is actually part of a common world view.

My guess is that it's relying on openai calls to do the hard work, and thus someone has to pay for them. I believe that GPT-3, which this relies on, is not open source and probably not easy to run on your device.

I think your logic is faulty here. There were BIOSes with no ip stack for many years that could boot OSes that did have the ability to access the internet. Also, it's possible to remove the ip stack from most UEFI implementations? Now

The site claims it's open source, but it's very obviously not.

I don't think that's remotely true anymore, especially in a SaaS world. Some fairly big companies use a lot of Linux, for instance...

I respect your right to license you product however you want, but please don't call that open source.

That was exactly my issue with Firefox. They mostly fixed it in 2016 [1], though I still found a few issues. These days, it seems mostly to be a thing of the past. [1] https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess
