Very similar story with iOS as well. Adware and InApp is the standard. One way around it is Arcade, which has lots of quality games with no ads nor in apps.

I had never heard of Zeloof. Wikipedia calls him an autodidact but I guess he chose to go to college (CMU). This Wired feature gives a bit more color (mostly just wowing over his home lab): https://www.wired.com/story/2

If you weight by market cap, Apple, Microsoft, and Google (Meta to a lesser extent) make it really hard to beat. And if you’re a VC, weighing by market share makes sense.

I started with: “How many unicorns were founded by people in their 30s? The biggest example I can think of is Larry Ellison” but it was easy to come up with so many more examples: Benioff, Reed Hastings, Bezos, Reid Hoffman. Of course there

I actually got a few thousand dollar settlement from a settlement around 2005-2006. So… I stand corrected. Netflix plays its own game, and is the exception to the rule?

There’s no evidence that “all the top tech companies” are trying to push down salaries. I’ve neither seen nor heard any evidence of this at Netflix or Apple. Google? Salary ranges for open positions in California are public.

Low interest rates also mean it’s practical to hold real estate and drip-feed the units. Much harder to do when you’re paying 10% interest on a construction loan.

At least at Apple, Amazon, and Google, most execs have been there 10+ years. One of the challenges is people often think “where’s my growth going to be if my Senior Director/VP isn’t going anywhere for 5 years?”

Why do you think the Feds view is erroneous? High employment led to a buyers market for labor, and total comp in tech (and every other field) higher. What do you see as primarily driving inflation? Supply chain, China, Ukraine?

Apple and Microsoft both run by CEO’s with MBA’s, but you could argue that they are not “MBA types”, which is fair enough, but then we’re really talking about an straw man MBA.

If I were Netflix, I’d first block simultaneous streaming in multiple locations. So many comments below talk about giving parents/siblings access and they barely use it (I fall in this camp). If that’s true, you’ll almost never notice
