Fans of Loom might want to check out Brian Moriarty's earlier masterpiece, Trinity. It lacks the beautiful EGA graphics, of course, but the atmosphere of the game feels very similarly moody.

Seconding those demoscene vibes. I'm into it. Not really sure what you call it either. Not ironic enough to be vaporwave, not 80s enough to be synthwave... well, whatever it is, it probably ends in wave. Is demowave a thing? Regardless

I've been writing music for, god, almost 20 years by now. My current project is to actually write an album , as opposed to individual songs. It's coming along, slowly. During quarantine I picked up a few things. I grew up on SNES

Hmm. Did you just make an equal but opposite statement, while cautioning against making just such a statement in the very same sentence? (I have no opinion on the argument, never having used either language. I just found the rhetoric funny.

With all due respect to Jon Blow (and I respect him a whole lot!)-- I don't think he'd be able to do what he does if he didn't make a boatload of money off of Braid.

Personally, I can hardly think of a better first project. The electronics are dead-simple and the hardware is so much up to personal preference that you can just tinker until you are happy. (I built my first keyboard about 7 years ago as my

First off-- Orca is incredible. It was just the piece of software I needed to get unstuck from a music-making rut and actually release a couple of new tracks. It's constrained, of course, yet has enough depth for serendipity, which is

You might want to internalize the parent comment, because it's entirely possible that some of your team members are not taking it that way. I'm on the receiving end of such feedback often. I know that it's coming from a genui

I'm pretty sure the real Glados voice effect is mostly pitch correction and formant shifting. You can do it with Melodyne at least (which, to be fair, is also computer magic-- just a different kind than this one!) I just found a video

The SNES is totally unmodified. Apart from the fact that what should be housed in a cartridge is instead exploded across breadboards, nothing here is anything but vanilla by SNES standards.

That's just, like, your opinion, man. There's clearly a market for, say, JRPGs, and that market is comprised of people who fully disagree with you. Ultimately what you're saying is "there's no need to make games I

I won't pretend to be an expert on the subject, but I think it's more a synth problem than a DAW problem. VST, for example, deals in 12TET, so the best a DAW could do to support alternate tuning systems would be to translate each

Hack idea: a keyboard that records this data (speed of typing? force of key presses, maybe approximated by keyboard vibrations?) paired with an app that tweaks font settings accordingly. Definitely way more effort than it's worth, but
