I recommend that you sit behind a non-technical relative or friend, and watch them use a Mac without offering them any help. There are quite a number of things that they'd like to do that isn't clearly expressed - or even easily findable!

They used a lot of dispersant to sink the oil on the surface into the water. So now it's pretty much impossible to clean up ourselves. Interestingly though some bacteria have cropped up to help out clean up what's in the water: http://www.

You're not going to see a startup get accepted that is essentially a competitor to Facebook -- it's too late for that. Really? In the recent video of Scoble interviewing pg pg mentioned that yc funded a privacy-oriented social network com

My router and desktop are both black with blue leds. Best solution? Electrical tape. You can't even see it unless you look close and I really couldn't care less about the led. If the router isn't working I'll know.

I'm in Montreal, definitely not nearby. I'm not looking for a job either I'm just a nosy person. =) I'll take a rain-check though in case I do someday end up in Newton.

When I saw the "we're hiring" comment I went to check out your site. I'm sorry to say but your careers section is pretty horrible. Your About Us page is blank: http://www.tripadvisor.com/careers/chronicle There's Learn about us in 30 seco

There has to be more behind this. They can't be suing Google just because they wrote their own embedded Java VM because if they were they'd be suing RIM too. And they certainly know RIM develops its own since they say so right on their own

Rather than just believe in an unproven hypothesis why don't you test it out? Find the interesting-code projects you actually use or have heard about (maybe Apache, Cassandra, Google's Bigtable, etc), find out who did the majority of the co

This article didn't even touch on the most obvious reasons people prefer the self-serve. First, the ATM example. If banks in the US are anything like the banks in Canada you can use the ATM for free but pay substantial service fees if you g

Most hostels have dorm and private room options. I just get the private room. It's more expensive than the dorm but way less expensive than a hotel. I've never slept in a hostel that only offered dorm rooms. I'm just as paranoid about the d
