If you try to run a straightforward business, you have to charge more money than competitors that do shady things. And the people who say they want no bullshit buy from your cheaper competitors.

There's a similar issue if you joined a site long, long ago but didn't get active until recently (which is reddit for me.) One dot, then years of blank space.

To be honest, it seems more like he was poached away by this other company, and the NSA made a deal to keep him part-time instead of leaving entirely.

I'm not clear why AirBnb isn't passing through the taxes. I know their system supports it. We recently rented from AirBnB in Portland Oregon and we paid an extra $65 in "Occupancy Taxes" on a $521 stay.

Well, from your perspective, I don't see why it matters whether the damage to you was done by your neighbor or by your neighbor's guests. It's still the neighbor's responsibility.

Manufacturer friendly, or Michigan-based manufacturer friendly?

Dealers are nice because they hold inventory on their books instead of the manufacturers. Tesla doesn't care about that much because they don't have any inventory.

Also realize that the Fusion Drive price includes $50 to upgrade from 500 GB to 1 TB drive. Which is like a $20 part difference.

I wish they just put in a small SSD by default and set it up as a Fusion drive. Even something like 64 GB would improve the OS performance a lot. Instead they charge $200 to upgrade to a Fusion Drive with a 128 GB SSD.

Yeah, now there is the potential for one buggy app creating bad data to "infect" all your other apps via HealthKit. Like if it doubles up your runs, now your activity calories are wrong in your diet tracker. Yay.

Maybe they'll dial back some of the quirkyness. I use it, but some stuff that should be really easy is messy, like subscribing to reddits. And their iOS 8 update (which was the first update in forever) has all sorts of "unique&q

Apple said: "iOS 8 includes over 4,000 new APIs that let you add amazing new features and capabilities to your apps" Maybe not a good thing.

Well, it's certainly encouraged by Apple, and it's getting to the point where they aren't interested that "supporting all these sizes without using AutoLayout is hard."

In practice, it seems about as reliable as email, and faster to get to me.

That seems unfair. The Fire TV had some innovations (voice search, game controller support, advanced parental controls.) This Nexus thing seems to have copied most of those.

I assume they don't show the price for internationalization reasons, but I do wish they had some way to see what it is in your country. Rather than just going to look at the Verge.

At this price point, I don't think a lower price would do anything. If you charge $99, no one complains about the price. If you charge $79, do you really get any more buyers? If they could do box + controller for $99, maybe that woul

Is the TV / app interface bad? I've heard good things about Netflix on the Xbox.

Nexus Q was so bizarre. They included a stereo amp in it and you could run speakers directly. I'm sure that added a lot to the price when most people are either going to plug it into their TV or their existing receiver.

$99 plus $40 for the controller. Since Google doesn't seem to want to provide that information.

How do you announce a phone without a price? That is always a terrible idea. Edit: I guess it's $649.

Unfortunately police work takes longer than the time remaining before the event. Better screening and more security is the obvious option, but apparently Utah allows people to carry regardless so it wouldn't do much good.

Funny how the default male response to a women's problem is almost always, "I will tell you a better way to handle this." Almost a cliché at this point.
