Seems like an old interest. I will ask an older friend when he first learned of it. He said it was in college in the 70's. It was taught as a method for having a doubly linked list, but only use the space for one link. He thinks it w

Do you mean when you have 2 items that generate the same hash? Yes, hashes are not unique. If they were unique then they would be a great way to compress.

Good form, is for the recruiter to tell you before they submit, so you can de conflict. Specifically tell them you are working with more than one recruiter, and need to avoid problems. Between a recruiter and me submitting, I prefer the re

For legal reasons, if a company receives a resume for a given person from 2 sources, it tosses them all and marks you as a no hire. When 2 recruiters sends in your info, the company does not know whom to compensate. They have been sued for

Agreed. I see the request for social media, as a method to determine if you will fit in. If the group you are going to is extreme in some way, it would be a blessing to avoid them. e.g. if they all play tennis and they have their own tenn

Basics, these should be obvious, but ... 1) anyone who will work with the person should be a part of the interview process. 2) everyone in the interview process must have a copy of the candidates resume 3) everyone in the interview process

A company I worked at 8 years ago, stopped tracking monitors as an asset. It was felt the cost of tracking exceeded the value. I assume because no one ever bothered to steal one. If the total market price is $1000, I would assume they got

When manufacturing was made redundant, how did you treat those workers? Smart money gets a resume together and finds another job now, while the IT economy is hot. What can your company do to convince people to stay? Hire more (more than 3

If you want to work where your passion for the product is not important, I recommend being a contractor. I have never seen a company expect the contractors to care. They are supposed ti care about the company they work for, not whom they

I so agree with this. It applies to MANY businesses. If they pay overtime, IMHO, then the company seems to not care as much.

There are also 3rd party companies that are similar to PO Boxes, they scan the outside of the mail. Then you can tell them if they should open it and scan the insides. This can be useful if you plan to move as a PO Box you need to visit.

Death is a shock to the system, even if it is expected. My mother slowly passed, and her last 6 weeks it was obvious. Now is too soon to think of 'How do I cope' It is a day to day thing. The funeral will bring it all up again.

I worked one jib where the titles were odd. I was a 'Senior member of Technical Staff' Reality was I was a SW team leader / project manager. The job labels on your resume are to frame out what you say you did at the job.
