Definitely all guesses and assumptions, I do not mean re-selling, just cross-bred (possibly accidentally) with a patented variety. My source is just comments from random gardeners in /r/gardening[0] and I don't have any insid

It's not 'one flower' - it's one petunia plant. They grow 6-12 inches tall, and 1-4ft wide, with multiple flowers. It's like a small sprawly bush. From the FAQ: > The Firefly Petunia is shipped as a small plant r

Not quite, you can get 3 for $107 because it applies some automatic discount and shipping is not a linear cost.

Patents are a major PITA even in home gardening and small-scale nurseries. People have to respect the patents because a lot of plant sales are online these days, through Etsy and stuff, and the company will sue the ever living shit out of y

Are there ways this could be done with rapidly biodegradable materials, such that e.g. it would need to be continually done year after year or else the sky would return to the exact same state it was in before? Also, living in Arizona with

Yes, SPIRV->DXIL does seem tempting and worth exploring. Very recently I learned Mesa has such a tool, spirv2dxil, though unsure how robust/featureful it is compared to HLSL->DXC->DXIL.

How far should one go with that line of thinking? Should we all be using formally verified C that e.g. the aerospace industry uses? It can prevent whole classes of logic bugs that languages like Rust couldn't dream of

Also Morello prototype architecture / CHERI could well just end up enforcing this all at the hardware level and make language-level safety a largely moot point.

It's worth noting that SPIR-V isn't really compiled for the target ISA, it's not even guaranteed to be in a particular optimized form already.. so when the GPU driver loads it, it may or may not decide to spend a lot of time
