In Colorado metal roofs are relatively common, typically there's little dams near the gutter to keep large amounts of snow/ice from sliding down and hurting people/property. Even just something that's 2"x2" pe

Sort of, it's common to mount metal roofs on wood. Leaves, pine cones, pine needles, and even just tree dandruf/pollen/cottonwood strands tend to collect in corners, in gutters, and any other ledges. Even an ounce can be en

A few 50 gallon drums, a battery, and a pump seems like cheap insurance if you are in a fire prone area. I wouldn't count on electricity or water pressure during a major fire.

Well even assuming 100% fossil fuels, EVs are somewhere around 3x as efficient compared to an internal combustion engine. But most grids world wide have some renewable energy and it's increasing over time. Not to mention solar at the

Standards are rising. Cars today are quieter (more insulation), stiffer (more metal in the body), have traction control, ABS, better brakes, numerous airbags, wider tires, larger interiors, better stereos (more wiring and speakers), more c

EVs, except in rare cases have differentials. Some even have different gears, but not Teslas. Typically EVs have 1 or 2 differentials. Granted that's less than my subaru (with 3), but still an issue.

Or memory bandwidth (800GB/sec). Or iGPU perf, which of course needs the above mentioned bandwidth. Or ML inference performance (5 tokens/sec with llama 65B).

Very cool. I wanted a custom frame for my hard to fit wife. The bike shop (dragonfly bike shop in Davis CA) offered a custom frame or I could build one myself for the same price. I ended up taking the semester class that met twice a week

I've seen LLM reviews that totally nail it. 2 hours, if space contrained to 5 shirts, 1 hours if space is not a constraint. Things do seem to be improving quickly, but if the inputs are largely human written content I do wonder if it&

Shhh, don't give them ideas. What gets me is large parts of HP was cut (calculators, test instruments, laser printers, etc), not because they weren't profitable, but instead because they weren't as profitable as selling ink.

Yes, and get the printer on the network where it can download new DRM behaviors to screw the users out of more ink. So far they retroactively added banning 3rd party ink, disabling ink once it gets too old, and of course not letting you pr

Dunno, what do you consider "light inference". M2 Max gets 5 tokens/sec on a 65B model, do you consider that "light'? 96GB max ram is quite a bit for vram and is still quite battery friendly, unlike a 3090/4090
