AMD had an issue, but really it was short term and has been fixed, seemed to only impact a few dozen CPUs and motherboard and only when overclocking a home built machine. Yes it made quite a bit of news and drama, but it's all fixed. W

Sort of. Asahi is doing a ton of work on the fan control, touchpad, GPU, video out, 8k page support, and related that isn't normally required to do a Linux Distro. Once all the user space and kernel tweaks are upstreamed then just ab

Not sure I buy the "we are special/early" explanation. However I don't think it makes sense for any civilization to be 'loud'. Just seems naive to blunder about and risk your civilization. However monitoring

Why split the community? Alma has been helping to improve the upstream already, why double the work to improve two distros instead of one?

Well it depends. How big a wave are we talking about? The ones so far have been very distant. But when to 100 solar mass black holes merge and form a 90 solar mass black hole they release 10 solar mass of energy (E=mc^2 strikes again).

Indeed, and part of the magic is knowing jupiters position with a very high precision. Said precision was delivered by the Juno probe in 2016 or so. With that precision we now know the earth position with much more accuracy. The trick is

Was hoping to hear more about other dams, the article focuses on Oroville. Lake Berryessa for instance is a concrete dam, much more like hoover than Oroville. It was built before they realized there was a nearby active fault, the Green Va

View-plus is basically a wave-plus with an extra sensor, usb-c power, and wifi: https://www.airthings.com/view-plus It can run on batteries, but then you lose the functionality of bridging from BLE to wifi.

Er, unbox, pull the battery tab, open the airthings app, click adopt, and away you go. It shows the sensor readings whenever you ask and will notify you of things like humidity too low/high, CO2 being 2 high "Open a window",

Absurd why? Battery powered for a year pretty much rules out wifi, BLE seems pretty reasonable for the use case. The code is open source so you can use whatever you want that is BLE enabled. I have a USB BLE dongle, but plenty of widgets

Indeed, definitely worth a second dimm. Careful some chromeboxes cheap out and offer only a single dimm. This is also why memory is often limited as 1x8GB or 2x4Gb. The second dimm is definitely worthwhile for improve GPU performance.
