They've gotten horrendously expensive in the fast few years, though. That's my only real issue. My order has gone from $10 to $17 since they opened in my town, so I just don't go anymore.

My current problem is that I write Javascript/TypeScript at work and have come to absolutely loathe every aspect of it because I've been working with much, much better languages at home for hobby projects (Elm, PureScript, stuff l

Not only is it nearly as high as Haskell, the PureScript guide hasn't been updated in years and is wildly out of date. You have to go searching for an unofficial rewrite, and those are incomplete as well.

I haven't gotten one of those in years. These days it's just picking out buses, cars, traffic signals, and sometimes motorcycles. Maybe once in a while it'll ask for storefronts.

I'm not a fan of the "Buy something nice" one. It seems like it might feed a harmful coping mechanism.

Yep. CEO of our company didn't like the progress on one of our frontends, so he took a weekend to write a whole new one himself, claiming it was "almost done." It was, as you may predict, nowhere near done, but still shoved i

This is real easy to say to people who largely don't get sick days, oftentimes don't have PTO, and are far more likely to be unable to absorb a week without pay. If I take off work because I'm sick, I simply lose that money.

I typically hide the Konami code in there anyway. Enter it an "A winner is you." prints to the JS console.

Elsewhere in this thread, a commenter (actually multiple) mentions that many French banks use 6-digit pins for authentication.[0] Another mentions that in Spain, some telcos do the same thing.[1] [0]: https://news.ycombinator.com

Maybe, that COBOL codebase doesn't contain the web-facing stuff. It's not handling user auth and all of that. It doesn't seem to make much sense for the web-facing side to be so directly connected to the financial backend, an

Node has an http2 module as well, but it's still pretty low level. I don't think there's anything wrong with the stdlib module being lower level than the third-party ones.
