> Overtime/holiday pay You are severely misinformed if you believe these to be mandated by law. Also missing from US law: parental leave and sick days. None of these things are mandated, they are purely up to individual companies

It's already expensive. The Entune head unit in my Corolla would cost me $1000 for an OEM replacement (they have a known touchscreen issue), but an aftermarket head unit with way more features may run me ~$400 including a mounting kit,

Bitcoin won't fix a corrupt system simply by existing. The corrupt system will just adapt.

TypeScript feels worth it until you use something like Elm, then you realize just how lacking and TypeScript's type system truly is. I have grown rather weary of type systems that don't require you to be exhaustive and, for my mon

Slashdot had an interview with him where he talks about it[0], he basically says Python isn't the language for FP and then complains about readability which, YMMV on that one. I don't know if his opinion has changed in the last se

Because rank and file employees don't get to effect change on an entire department or company at a whim the way managers often can.

My two bosses keep asking me how the code I write for myself is so stable (it's Elm), and yet we're always fixing bullshit bugs in our company's codebases (they're JS and TS -- sorry guys, TS isn't good enough). But

I have yet to find a straight answer on how `declare` actually works in the Typescript docs. I had to go to Stack Overflow to learn what it's for. The TS docs basically just say "use declare to declare [thing]" over and over,

That's probably why the comments are highly critical and not supportive of this idea.

Check their link again. They're conflating Medicare and Medicaid and clearly did not read their own article. Medicare isn't mentioned a single time in the entire article, not even in passing.

Your link and all the information you're regurgitating from it is talking about Medicaid, not Medicare. Medicare does not have estate recovery, you're spreading misinformation.

I tend to get bizarre and seemingly incorrect network errors randomly from various npm packages from time to time. Yarn does it too (sometimes worse). They will fail with a network error yet I can reach both the package repository and the p

Ido is an alternative to Esperanto with similar grammar rules and pronunciation, but less complex conjugations and no need for diacritics, instead using digraphs and is thus easier to type. Ido is also gender neutral (rather, gender on noun

I use it for some drag and drop stuff where selecting text would get in the way and would be largely unnecessary (e.g. reordering table columns by dragging a header cell), but that's about it.

What you're describing is called bikeshedding. I'd bet people generally feel like it's easier to "contribute" to a drawing than to something that looks more concrete, like a demo or semi-functional mockup.

So then why are other, non-Oculus, non-Steam VR setups cheaper than $1000 without ads? The Index is premium-level, it's not entry-level.

Yeah, this happened to me when I migrated to Clojurescript. But it really only lasted until I (finally) got my arms around Elm. Lisp, of course, is a lot more versatile than Elm since Elm is specifically a browser language, so it's tak

Dumb TVs simply do not exist anymore for all practical purposes. The common advice is to get a commercial or hospitality panel but that advice is outdated, those all have smart features now, too. At the same time, folks all over the interne
