According to this newer Linus Video [1], one of the T2 SSD slots still needs to be populated with an Apple drive to boot from other drives. [1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcLbSCinX3U

There are launchers for Android, but they don't work perfectly. For me, the only icons I would need is "Call", "Answer" and "Silent". Of course, that begs the question, why not use a "feature phone&qu

According to a Linus Tech Tips video[1] that I saw a a couple of days ago, you can use PCI nvme drives on the new Mac Pro, but it won't even boot unless one of the proprietary Apple SSDs is connected (because of the T2). [1] https:&#x

While I get that designers hate skeuomorphism, I tend to think there are still significant benefits to it with seniors. With my dad in particular, if the icons were literally photos (as opposed to "graphically designed" icons) of

I'm kinda jealous of your experience. My dad (early 80s) struggles with tech in general, including the iPad and iPhone. Many in his peer group use touchscreen devices with fewer issues. This is what I noticed from trying to teach him h

I use Wallabag ( https://wallabag.org/en ) which is similar to Pocket, except that you can self host it.

Trackballs are very underrated, imo. While I'll admit Apple's trackpads have been the best laptop trackpads for the past several years, I personally hate trackpads. I always make sure I have a mouse in my laptop bag. This is going

While I hear what you're saying, I think YMMV with Thunderbolt as a hard requirement. When I bought my laptop a couple of years ago, I made sure that it had TB3 for future-proofing, but I have yet to use it, and I suspect that I'l

This might not be so true after CES is done. I was watching Linus Tech Tips[1] video yesterday, and Asus had a new array of nice laptops (albeit, gaming laptops) that were AMD based, including a 13" one with decent AMD CPUs [1] https:

Ok, are any of the old fogeys here other than me reminded of the Cauzin Softstrip when they see the printable/scannable code? Back in the day, way back, actually, you would manually type in source code from print magazines for applicat

The low-end video editing market also hasn't been satisfied with closed source proprietary software either. Yes, there are a lot of players, especially on the Windows side in the under $100 price range, but nothing I've used has b

For a z-wave device to pair to my hub, I need to put the hub itself in pairing mode. Unlike wifi devices, a zwave device can't just join my hub by knowing an SSID and password. Yes, I could do something similar with a wifi network and

I think the big concern is the presumption of a non-techie that a medical company would take good care of their information, because of regulations, etc. I would not be surprised if a LOT of Lifelabs customers used the same password on thei

Zoneminder is pretty good, all things considered. It was my go-to NVR before I switched to the Unifi ecosystem. I guess the one drawback (when I was using it) was that it didn't record audio, and that its UI was relatively unpolished.

Maybe, maybe not. The only reason why this special cloth even made the headlines and why it's a hot topic for discussion is because it is considered an outlier from a care perspective.

I'm of the view is that if it's an Apple monitor, there's probably nothing you need to do to it other than plug it in and power it on. The color calibration out of the box will probably be near perfect, and all the controls w
