From that url in September it was about half Linux "but sometimes slightly over half of Azure VMs are Linux." I'm not sure that is the win OP was looking for.

> and in the data center, which is where it counts. Do you have any stats on this? As far as I know Windows and Linux are very competitive on the server and depending on the analysis Windows comes ahead.

I doubt the scale of the data being intercepted is much concern for the hyperscale providers. AWS already has a customer-facing service that monitors for connections to its own "watchlist", I'd be surprised if all traffic isn

How many things built into products have obsolete hardware or unused functionality that would have to be listed? I understand being reactionary to a microphone but where is the line? How do you draw it? Do I need to list all the capabilitie

I don't know which specs exactly people are referencing, but if its marketing specs or the specs you would see on the box then I don't expect consumer products to have "microphone (disabled)" for unused hardware just as

I've been looking for a while for a way to capture all file opens and network ops to profile unknown production workloads similar to proc. explorer on Windows, which I believe is implemented using ETW. Unfortunately strace seems to be

How does anti-trust legislation work for these kind of sites? If Facebook was split up then what would stop a single identical entity from popping up in some other country that fills the niche for the entire world? I've seen it mention

Are reCAPTCHA images used to train or classify data like Mechanical Turk? I thought at one point the word ones were used that way and was a major incentive for their usage.

I didn't consider small static sites. I agree with that and have done some landing pages that way that stand in front of SPAs. I guess I was commenting on OP wanting to use Rails or Spring MVC for views instead of only using them for A

As someone who started developing not long ago, is there any reason to not make an SPA when it is the workflow you are used to? I just don't see a practical difference between SPA or not. The argument I usually see is that its harder..

Innovation in my context is more in appealing to the user. The mechanics. You don't have to make something new like the wheel to innovate. Look at Apple. They're called innovative all the time but have never "invented" a

I think they just lost the ability to be innovative. They had some real creative minds at the helm that got replaced by "business" people. Kind of like Steve Jobs being replaced. Blizzard was based on this cool innovative stuff an

If we use this logic then there will never be an alternative. We need to create a vacuum and that might negatively affect the shoppers in the interim. Edit: It looks like Instacart is making some kind of amends and changing policy.

I think the simplest way to tell is if the app requires you to tip before or after the order has been placed. I've read in other HN threads that Uber Eats tip policy is what we as customers expect, but don't take my word for it.
