Point taken. My objection was to praptak's generalized false dilemma of corporations cheating their employees versus weak copyright and widely accepted file sharing. Don Rosa's case is indeed more complex.

Don't frame it like that. It's dishonest. Corporations withholding royalties from artists is obviously bad . But it's entirely consistent to condemn such abuse while still supporting the idea that artists ought to be repaid for their work.

This is an oblique, needlessly wordy way to say that if you make public all the information needed to download a file, the authorities have the information to issue a takedown order for that file. Absolutely true, and MEGA was not created t

If someone can replace your `git-add` binary or put their own in a directory earlier in your $PATH, they can do the same with `git`, `ls` or any other program.

The post we're discussing mentions payouts of $0.30 to $1.50 per install. Factor in InstallMonetizer's unspecified cut, and you're looking at some pretty significant rates. What sort of software do you think can afford to pay that much to g

For one thing, there's no code base called "JavaScript." There's V8, SpiderMonkey, JavaScriptCore, Chakra, and more, and an exploit in one is unlikely to work in others. Flash and Java each have a larger market share than any given JavaScri

Just because the Java plugin is rarely used doesn't mean it isn't installed. Most PCs I see have Java installed, whether bundled by the OEM or some third-party piece of software, and Java always installs its plugin. Stat Owl reports that th

It's a little off-putting that the documentation brags about the low line count without mentioning the use of Scintilla, which already implements most of a text editor . Still, I'm willing to give it a try.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a full API. How about a database dump, or even a .csv? Just some way to get the data out of one system and into another.

The only case I know for certain that Valve removed a single game from accounts was the time a large number of Dirt 3 keys were leaked from a graphics card promotion. A friend traded a game for one of the stolen keys, not knowing about the
