I don't think Firefox has stored bookmarks in HTML since the bookmark and history systems were unified in Firefox 3. Now they're stored in a single SQLite database. The schema is sensible, so it's easy enough for a programmer to work with,

What's the problem with iTunes, or Amazon MP3? Instant downloads, DRM-free, reasonably high bitrate, standard formats. Seems to meet your requirements.

It can be relevant to answer the moral question with a business argument because the moral question often has economic underpinnings. The idea that copying is equivalent to theft is based on the idea that pirates would otherwise have bought

Are people willing to pay enough for that superior experience? Making movies is far more costly than hosting them. I can't imagine film executives could afford even one Ferrari if they charged Megaupload's rates for unlimited access to th

According to the NYT coverage Stuxnet was never intended to spread beyond Natanz. The escape led to the worm's discovery by security researchers, which led to the investigation and revelation of the US's involvement.

I read the article as simply suggesting that developers create real, genuine <a>-tag links in their modern pushState-using web apps. Doubtful that there are enough people specifically overriding middle-clicking on links to warrant a

It's not that pushState() apps interfere with middle-clicking on links, it's that they have no real links to middle-click on. Common practice is to have a <div> or <span> (or maybe <a> without an href) styled to lo

Aliases shouldn't interfere with shell scripts unless you do something very silly. They're shell-local, and typically you define them in your shell's interactive-initialization file (e.g. .bashrc, .zshrc).

One of the huge advantages of online shopping is the ability to see customer feedback as you browse. Backporting that to physical stores might not let them beat etailers at their game, but it might help close the gap.

UI #2 works for me: one big list of things I probably want to read. If your feed reader looks like "one big mess", maybe you should unsubscribe from some of the noisier feeds before reaching for machine learning. Alternatively, use folders.
