Yeah Apple tried to kill the Mac… and then popped out with the biggest jump in laptop chips in a decade. That chip effort, along with everything that supports it in the new M1 machines was many years in the making.

I actually don't think Click is too much global state and spookiness, at least in relation to a lot of popular Python libraries. I do wish I could hook into it to test better, the only thing you can really do right now is to have it pr

I have the exact same experience with Linux (Fedora) on X1 Carbon Gen 9 (everything works great), and with the Intel Macbook, where falling asleep connected to the monitor almost always results in a crash. You simply cannot beat the MacBook

The biggest issue with Hugo for me was trying to create a custom theme (in order to get a stripped-down site without a bunch of BS), everything breaks if you don't arrange all the files exactly the way required by Hugo themes. Once I g

I get what you mean, but rolling out in chunks can make it even harder to pinpoint and revert issues. If you roll out chunks A, B, then C, and things broke after C, the issue can still be in A, it just doesn't get exposed until it is a

You can break down a big feature into smaller bits of code, but what's the point of releasing a some new code that's not being called by anything yet, when you might change it as you converge on the final solution? What's the

I made mine sparse, though not as sparse as this. I’m a backend developer, so I don’t have anything to prove about my ability to do cool frontend tricks, and I want the content to stand on its own with minimal fiddling required.

Given the slovenly praise of Cloudflare on HN, I was pretty surprised to see on Glassdoor that their engineers seem pretty unhappy - stressed, overworked, underpaid, and mistreated by leadership. Cloudflare is just big enough that there’s e
